Not bad, sounds like it would cost around $700 US dollars, maybe even less.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2016ever heard of flac?????Yes I did. Lossless quality audio files. Not a big fan of it (same as .wav), simply because it weights too much. I can deal with the 10MB songs, but 50MB is a bit too much. I'm good with 320kbps mp3, I'll leave .flac to those who deal with the music on professional level.

The one I read the G5 was beaten in almost everything except single core performance. As for the camera you mentioned the better dynamic range of the G5 but seem to miss the point that they still rated the camera of the S7 better overall? Anyway, a pointless argument, as you should always choose whatever suits you best, and specs are only a tiny consideration.

G5 did better in benchmarks except for multi core performance, because the G5 has fewer but more powerful cores. The S7 camera only has better low light performance, but it has less dynamic range and takes more narrow pictues without even taking into account the wide angle on the G5. The screen is better though I'll admit that, best display award was well deserved. Obviously the S7 has a bigger battery but if the endurance rating is decent on the G5 it wont matter. And waterproofing is great, but it's not hard to keep your phone out of the water or get a case for it

AnonD-442781, 27 Feb 2016Lg has always had abysmal battery life, I don't think that'... moreFree VR is only an advantage depending on the cost of the LG headset. If it's anywhere under 50 it becomes a non-issue
Yeah samsung wins in battery life, but that doesn't mean the G5 is gonna be terrible
Waterproofing is wonderful, but you can easily get a case or just not take your phone swimming
The displays on samsung will probably win
Liquid cooling only means that the S7 was having temp problems and needed to fix it.
S7 camera is only better in low light situations and the dynamic range isn't as good. With adequate lighting the G5 takes the cake in photos and videos. Plus G5 has wide angle which add functionality.
Lastly the Exynos chip only topped the G5 in multi core scores. Single core and antutu wins go to the G5

I'd say these are pretty evenly matched

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2016two things though; 1. G5 battery is 2800, down from 3000... moreBut that's not true is it? On specs alone the G5 is NOT a match for the S7, with our without any of its geeky modules. The S7 has better camera, screen, bigger battery, waterproof.. The list goes on. Yes the specs this year are closer than ever, but close isn't better.
I currently own a Samsung, but am not a fanboy and have owned LG's and a couple of HTC's in the past. Each year I keep hoping that one of them will being out THE phone, the one that offers most of the best specs wrapped up in the best overall package. This year I'm as disappointed as ever thaf the competition haven't quite managed that (OK the M10 might blow everyone away, but on current form it's unlikely), and it looks like I'm heading towards my 3rd Sammy. Maybe next year, but for now I'm looking forward to getting my S7 Edge.

And since we know what's inside the phone we can make somewhat reliable analysis right? I've only been saying what I know, which is likely to be correct as it has basis, and most of it isn't even speculation anymore. You've been making baseless claims which are proven to be incorrect by anyone with eyes. It is clear you are the fanboy here.

You've been wrong about camera (of which we have samples, and an understanding of how they work)
And you've been wrong about battery (of which we have figures). In the end all you had based your experience on was your fanboyism and very unreliable anecdotal data.
And you've been wrong about the price
You haven't made any other claims but they're likely to be incorrect too given your track record.

It is clear you don't know anything about the topic so there is no point in continuing this. On that we can agree ;-)

And the guys who do benchmarks usually said the mi5, which uses the SD 820, got hot. I'd imgaine that the g5 is the same. Also, adreno GPU is more power hungry and cannot sustain performance as well as Mali (but in the past they've both been bad at this.)

The price isn't better. You have to remember you get a free vr or watch when you buy the s7 in most places, so its actually worse ATM.

I don't really see a single way in which it is better than the s7
Battery life goes to the s7 unless you make use of removable battery.
                                    No waterproofing
Samoled displays are better and more efficient.
Liquid cooling system (which improves battery life and performance)
Camera is better, especially when it comes to low light.
Exynos cpu is better (although this is mainly for what I'd use the phone for), GPU is better and supports vulkan.

In the end, if you want a gimmicky phone then go for the g5. But if you want one with real functionality, durability, and performance, then go for the s7.

                                      1. G5 battery is 2800, down from 3000 in the G4

                                      2. Why is Samsung so much more efficient now? Is it because it has new hardware and software? I hate to break it to you but so does the G5.

Honestly we don't know anything about the real life performance of either phones and even with zero attachments the G5 is a match for the S7, at a better price. The camera module doesn't affect the quality of the photos at all. The audio module is only for audiophiles, and a regular joe wont be able to tell much difference between the S7 and G5.

You've already claimed some nonsense about Samsung price and made an utter fool of yourself, and you're doing it again. In this post you've criticised the s7 on several accounts, but all of them are based on the s6.

Surprised you're not saying the s7 isn't waterproof because the s6 isn't. LOL.

The only space you may be right, is if you went to the trouble of buying the hi-fi audio module, you may get better performance. But as someone whinging about price, who isn't listening to native audio and is streaming off the internet, this isn't relevant. As streamed content isn't high enough quality

Battery life on the s7 will most likely have an endurance rating of 85+ hours. Since the battery life is bigger than that on the s5 which had 83 hours (which was bigger and lasted longer than the s6), and Samsung phones are more efficient now. The LG g5 on the other hand has a smaller battery than its predecessor, which already had an abysmal 54 hours with 2600mAh. The s6 edge on the other hand will most likely have over 90 hours with a battery of 3600mAh and only 0.2" bigger.

In the end, in order to catch up to the s7, it has to use all these attachments, which most people wouldn't and don't want to carry around with them. Even if they did, you have to remove the battery (thus restarting the phone) to even use them. So it isn't a seamless process. Even if you did use those attachments it only comes to parity with the s7. And those attachments don't all come with the phone either, so as someone who is whinging about price, you won't have them to begin with!

Typed on my old lg phone that I still use sometimes.
