This year the economy is bad. Might not be a good idea to manufacture so many units. If people has no budget no matter how good the product is, it won't sell.

If you read the reports about OEM's not using a uniform standard for usb-c we don't need another "standard".
Just let's wait another year and see what comes from the adoption of a UNIFORM usb-c port in devices.
I don't think it's usefull in a phone anyway because we do have (fast)wireless charging which will without any doubt be faster also as time goes by.

And for transferring all other data and files there is Airdroid and other software.
                https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid
Absolutely NO need for usb-c or any other cable for that matter.

My S6 Edge 128GB only had a cable plugged in once to get it rooted since it came out of the box :-)

Never ever will I get a Samsung phone. Or Apple for that matter.... I'll stick to my ancient Nokia which does everything I need without a suitcase full of RAM and a pricetag of a nice holiday!

Progressive, 27 Feb 2016Now need make Samsung = USB Type-C, 2 front stereo speakers... moreAccording to me & not only, yes you're right my friend. The S7 (edge) is almost a complete flagship smatphone now, basically what remains is what you said (most important is a dual stereo speakers, of the best quality sound possibly in a phone, USB Type C, & Bluetooth Headphones ) & I add a front LED flash & a come back of the removable battery (but it is already quite okay, because they increased it to 3600mAh, so we can't complain much, & an FM radio, preferably? ) well I think that it will not gonna be extremely difficult for the leading brand Samsung to include them in the next year S8, if not even in this year Note 6?. But for that we have to give time to time. Then talking about now, the S7 edge is already almost complete & it is fantastic. & but almost the same we can say it to the G5 as well, because it is fantastic too (& in different ways, it is at parallel level with the S7, again, in some different ways)

It's all about the camera. Samsung introduced a feature on their phones a while back that I was about to patent. And it's a life saver. (If they didn't invent it, let me know.) If you're recording video, you can hit a Pause icon (say whilst you re position your shot or wait for someone to say something), and then continue recording - in the same video file. NO consumer or professional camera or video camera offers this, nor did many phones until recently. So you had to drop masses of smaller video files into your editor and glue them all together. A nightmare! To give you an idea how priceless this is, I am selling my new Panasonic GX8 (and superb lenses) to buy the S7 Edge and use it's camera to make my 4K videos. I have a Note 4 (and tried and S6 last year) and the video quality from both phones is in daylight almost (almost!) as good as that from a prosumer camera like the Sony A6300, Panasonic GH4 or GX8. (I bought a £20 Joby phone holder for my tripod for low light or steady shot use.) Of course, a phone lacks a viewfinder or precision manual controls, but for most footage, a phone with a good camera is good enough. Plus it can be set to upload to (say) Google Photos on the fly, all ready to download and edit later or feed direct to YouTube. Samsung's choice to leave the compact camera market may well have been a wise one. I'm going to be one of the 17,0000,000!

[deleted post]You're talking about the camera here, which uses Samsung's patented technology to provide what will be the best camera of the year. Until the note 6 arrives of course.

The S7 and S7 are the two best smartphones of this year regardless of where you look at it. Until the Note 6 arrives, of course. They have the most gorgeous designs, exquisite colours (the silver titanium is simply stunning, gold is great, too), true waterproofing (1.5m for 30 minutes), the best amongst the best displays (the brightest, most vibrant and most accurate color reproduction Samoled display) and now with the very handy always on display! It's with the most beastly processors with 4GB of RAM for the smoothest multitasking (get productive!), with the new Vulkan API for unrivaled mobile gaming prowess, first mobile camera with DSLR tech for instantaneous outofocus (made the latest iPhone looks ancient) with the biggest aperture in a mobile camera (f/1.7) plus large pixels for the brightest night shots ever in a mobile. Great battery life (guaranteed) and the return of the card slot completed the amazing package. Faster rapid charging (wired and wireless) compensate the unremovable battery. And it's cheap! (For the latest branded flagship that starts from 32GB internal storage). Guaranteed to be the best selling Samsung phone EVER! (According to logic). O, didn't even mention the VR feature in collaboration with Oculus (this is no some Crapboard thingy!) which the device which cost $99 is included in the preorder deal! What more can you ask!? IR blaster and USB type C? Of course! Samsung, listen! (Note 6 must have them). O, yeah, if you're not into VR yet (because you haven't tried the Gear VR!), Verizon will even give you a Gear S2 smartwatch (many consider as best smartwatch) $300 worth.

The point is, go preorder one! OR regret it for the rest of the year (or until Note 6 arrives).

Lol.

Remember S5, with the perfect specs and the latest of the latest hardware. People called them superphone because it have all the features we wanted back then. But that didn't sell well just because its ugly. Perfect phone with usb type c, removable battery, ip certified, sd slot, ir blaster, radio and stuff simply can't exist. Superphone cannot sell well at all. It all goes down to gorgeous and stylish design for people wanting to buy it.

May be they can compete head to head with Samsung after roughly two years IF they continue to innovate like they do with G5.
