It is a major supplier of electronic peripherals like external batteries, smart lights tvs and even air and water purifiers. They even sell clothes and luggage. Sony doesn't even do that.
As for Sony Pictures that division is losing money. and Xiaomi? Its looking into the film industry too. Sony's computers are done for from low VAIO sales. Xiaomi is going to enter the laptop PC business. Sony's phones are second fiddle to like everything from Samsung to ZTE. Xiaomi's phones are top of the line and beat out Samsung and Apple. Pretty much you've got Sony's TVs cameras and the PS4 driving sales. But even then Sony's amazing Bravia TVs are doing bad against Samsung because people are buing into the curved UHD Super AMOLED gimmick and PS4 is too expensive to match XBox and Wii U. And Canon will always be a better camera company than Sony. Prety much Sony used to be great but now its just hanging out under the popular companies in each of its divisions. Xiaomi is one of those popular companies and the fact it came out in 2010 only makes it that much better.

Do you know what you're talking about? Obviously not, you're just thinking of phones, right?
Sony has so many divisions, including Sony Pictures which is used worldwide in films (movies, TVs, etc.). Sony makes most of the world's DSLR and Mobile image camera sensors. Guess what, they're the best!
Sony makes many many products with excellent audio, excellent televisions, etc. Do you have any idea how much money is generated from the above?
They make excellent phones, problem with Z series was the glass back that broke easily. You are talking as an uninformed child.

Depends on your main purpose for use. Mi5 has same or bigger specs, but when it comes to camera and video Sony is the market leader in mobile.
Also I don't know the quality of Mi5 but having owned two Xperia's for year's, the quality is impressive.
Sony X has IP68 rating and Mi5 I believe cannot get wet (in this day and age?)

After a few more bad quarters, Sony will stop making more Xperia phones.
The specs of the Mi 5 and the Xperia X Performance are very similar, but the Mi 5 is far cheaper. You're just paying extra money for the Sony brand. This is a fact.
