[deleted post]Foxcon assembles phones with parts from various sources, exactly like car manufactures. The analogy still stands. In fact cars are unfortunately also becoming harder to repair. We complain about waste disposal yet manufacturers keep the throwaway society alive instead of going for durability.

Especially considering the bad reputation these centres have. I wouldn't want my expensive phone returned with its back badly glued and buttons falling of, would you?

AnonD-77892, 09 Mar 2016That's why I hate Samsung phones! They were the exact opposite of that up until very lately, so it can't be that. I lack electrical engineering knowledge yet I was able to fix a lot of my Samsung devices by buying new parts, screws existed in most places. Since Galaxy S6 Samsung made a hard turn towards apple and tries to mimicking her bad ideas too, I think they should be punished yet the consumers are still buying ...

the ever-declining phone battery needs to be replaced someday (in 1.5 ~ 2 years) if you want max battery performance.

who cares if these new smartphones are hard to repair. are we doing the repairs ourselves? obviously not. we just send to authorized service centers so what's the fuzz, duh.

                      ixfixit

please stop tearing down phone to repairing it there is a reason why we have warranty on phone so we don't send the to doggy repairs in shopping center to void our warranty.
we send them back to the manufactures to fix it not relying on ifixit to tell us how hard it is

This is no surprise, this is on purpose to deter DIY attempts at battery swaps. They want you to go to their centers so they can charge you for the service. Before you ask, nope battery changes are not warranty covered. Apple charges a fortune for this and Samsung wants to charge just a little less and call that a big deal "win" for the customer

By doing this they can keep their service centers fully staffed with budgets coming in from the milking.

Sure, covers are convenient, unibody just looks and feels better, less cracking sounds after awhile. I'm not a fan of covers, never had to use aditional battery, never had a phone longer than 2 years. If anything I used power bank. So to me, I couldn't care less about replaceable back cover.
