Heretic, 11 Mar 2016Blame your OEM for that (nexus user here)agree.
is not Android issue. is ur phone brand issue.
always remember, Android is part of google. if you are using google's phone (Nexus). you always get the latest update.
the other brand. only modify the an version to become it's operating system.
    so it wont keep updating.

Anonymous, 11 Mar 2016then why do android phones have 3,4, even 6 gigs of RAM, wh... moredue to the code. iOS and WindowsPhone OS are known to be more matching to the hardware. especially iOS. and Apple is refining it's OS to fix any bugs and lower the bugs and leaking as much as possible. windowsphone is more in the middle. while Android is written with java. which is KNOWN to be resource hungry. technically. if it wasn't resource hungry. 3 GB ram would be CERTAINLY enough.
(Plus. I'm not an expert. so I MIGHT be wrong. don't go nutz if you find mistakes.)

Anonymous, 11 Mar 2016then why do android phones have 3,4, even 6 gigs of RAM, wh... moreTo make things simple, Android is an Open Source OS, while iOS and Windows Mobile are not. One of the things about Open Source OS is that it is fully customize-able with every bits and pieces can be designed in different ways. Okay next, application. If you compare an Android, iOS and Windows Mobile you would clearly see the foremost have the most apps installed by factory settings(doesn't include third-party apps from OEM manufacturer). Apps tends to consume memory in order to operate normally(so does the UI and mobile systems). So in this case RAM play its part. RAM was designed to accumulate random temporary memories that can be thrown away when it was not needed. It also designed to fill in every single space it has to keep major apps working properly with multitasking capability. Some mobile manufacturer, e.g Samsung with their TouchWiz, Lenovo with their VibeUi, Xiaomi's MIUI and also other major brands have suffers from memory optimization because of their systems depart too far away from the original Vanilla Android(simply put as Bloatwares/ unwanted or rarely used apps). Me my self a hardcore mobile user that use almost 10 apps on a regular basis had no problem with my phone even though it only has 2GB of RAM. More RAMs means more memory could be stored so that users could access it anytime they want. If you ask me why iOS and Windows Mobile need less RAM than the ones in Android, then you should see yourself which one of those provide you the best multitasking work.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2016It's an EARLY developer preview...Indeed early, this means in 9 months time, there will be release...ANd by then 60% of phones wont have Marshmallow.

I think it is too soon. We cant even use Android M to the fullest, if there is already new android in making.

Unfortunately everone thinks that 3G or 4G consumes more. I work in a university, where if I forget to bring my extra battery with me I switch to Data instead of WiFi. The WiFi is of the worst that I can use my phone for news only and barely make 8 hours. So killing apps need to work on both kind of connections

Android phones do well with RAM management but mobile brands put a lot of bloatware to make their models special. On the other hand, Most mobiles that running on Vanilla Android don't suffer from bad RAM optimization.

These frequent insignificant upgrades annoy me quite a lot...
The only useful thing being Doze changes.

It almost took me a full year to be upgraded from KitKat to Lollipop, and then it was so buggy (Camera shutter button crashing phone, unresponsive screen and ghost typing , fast battery life drain) that I had to put KitKat on again after waiting for months to upgrade.
Lollipop still isn't even fixed for me (and I'm upgrading within 2 months).Android M has just been released and now Android N is coming out while M is probably also not even fully fixed.
My next phone won't be Android that's for sure...

it would be nice if it has a feature to reply to msgs or say whatsapp in the notification panel itself without actually opening the app
