Samsung Galaxy S7 battery life

13 March, 2016
We've been through it a lot - the Samsung Galaxy S5, as all Galaxy S's before it, had a user-replaceable battery, and the S6 didn't, which sucks. Not only that, it actually had a smaller battery than the model it replaced.

I am an owner of LG G2, Samsung Galaxy S4 (both Exynos and Snapdragon), Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (International/Exynos), Samsung Galaxy S7 (International/Exynos), and iPhone 6s (not TSMC, but Samsung chip, which is reportedly worse for battery life).
I use the phone daily like this: (1) Facebook - 2 hours, (2) audiobooks - 3.5 hours, (3) RSS + web browsing - 2 hours, (4) movies (~1.5 GB per movie) - 1 hour. On-battery time is typically 15 hours a day. Bluetooth+GPS+WiFi always on, NFC always off (could not find a use it).
Of these phones, LG G2 by far has the best battery life. In 2 years of use, I ran out of battery only on 3 occasions and was really surprised by it. Typically, by the end of the day I had at least 40% of battery.
S7 takes the second place. In two months of use, by the end of the day I have 40% of battery, but on 2 occasions I had just ~15 % after 16 hours on battery.
iPhone 6s and S7 Edge take the third place, by the end of the day I typically have ~25% left (although I've never run out of juice completely with them). Still, with these 2 phones I feel a bit nervous, and always have to carry a battery case for them.
For G2 and S7 (non-Edge) I don't have to worry about a battery case, but I still have a tiny and light (2000mAh) power bank, just to be sure my wireless JayBird BlueBuds X are always on, and to charge the phone if it cannot make it till next morning (when I need its alarm clock).
The only disappointment with G2 was bad (yellowish) photos in low light.
The only disappointment in S7 is slightly curved edges, because of which a protecting glass cannot cover it fully.
S7 Edge has more cons: (1) worse battery life, (2) a lot of false touches of an edge, because I use phones mostly with a single hand, (3) fragile screen. which broke in 3 spots at once on the very first drop (and a Pierre Cardin case could not spare it from cracking), (4) poor options to protect the screen.
iPhone 6s has so many more cons, that they are not worth listing them all. Its hardware is fine, but big gripes are about iOS, which severely limits 3rd-party background apps (alarm clocks/SMS spam blockers/RSS readers/etc), which is aggravated by very limited or crippled built-in counterparts. Jailbreak/Cydia cannot help it, they are plain crap, multiple crashes a day while very few benefits. Overall, iPhone simply cannot provide reliable extended functionality of Alarm Clock Xtreme, Smart AudioBook Player, and many others. Overall, I would say, iPhone is too many hassle for such a basic thing as a portable computer. I bought it after my S7 Edge screen cracked, and I was very disappointed with iPhone. I love to learn something new and forced myself to use it for 6 months, but then I gave up, the software part is just crap.
Of the mentioned phones, Galaxy S4 takes a distant last place. Every fourth day it could not make it from dawn till dusk on a single charge. Facebook really drained it. In the daylight, the phone makes fantastic photos, though.

Do you think battery may last 3 years? If not, can Samsung Service Centers can replace it?

Hi, i have a samsung galaxy s7 (7days old) and i am having to charge it every day. I get about 12 hours out of it and have bluetooth, wifi switched off and do not use it for games or music? Is this time about right - i would have thought i should get longer.

on my second s7 in 2 days, first one ran hot and went all black, next morning it went on because the battery had cooled off. I took it back got another one, after a fast charge, love that, after about 8 hrs I was at 39%. Called and was told to put on battery save, I did, its better but my s4 is still lasting longer. Not sure if I just have gotten bad phones or if this is how it is, this one will probably go back but to the Verizon store. One of the reasons I bought the phone was because of the long battery life.

I just picked up my second S7. First one spun through the battery in 10 hours where my S5 went 14-15 easy. Then the screen died so i have another on a DOA swap. Hoping the other was a lemon.

Comparing to the scores of the Note 4 and the S6 Active i expected more out of the S7 and Edge.
Though their scores are still good

How come S7 edge wasnt tried? Also Sammy isnt doing good job on web battery. Need to improve this area

I thought i heard samsung claim that their new screen will consume 50%less, and their chipset will also consume 50% less than its competitor. So now, why is this phone battery test is just average?
