Samsung Galaxy S7 battery life

13 March, 2016
We've been through it a lot - the Samsung Galaxy S5, as all Galaxy S's before it, had a user-replaceable battery, and the S6 didn't, which sucks. Not only that, it actually had a smaller battery than the model it replaced.

I think (hope) that the Always On Display won't cost quite that much. It's supposed to go off if you turn the phone over or put it in your pocket, i.e. the proximity sensor detects something. Although it might put a stop to Marshmallow dozing.

People saying they want 720p screens. No thanks.

I enjoy 1440p screens and looking forward to 4K on phones. And those complaining about battery life... Does LG, Sony or Apple's last longer? NOOOO. LG is the worst when it comes on to battery life.

AnonD-77443, 13 Mar 2016Not true, batteries degrade a lot faster than that with hea... moreAfter experiencing 10000 mAh extended battery on my Galaxy Note, I confirmed my real continuous personal average use - 18 hours, with 4 GB of LTE, 8 hours Screen On Time daily usage. No need to charge before going home. All these parameters can only be matched with a 6000mAh without extra charging for the day. But will still be be draining to less than 10%. Deep battery draining lower than 20% contribute to degradation.

Best solution is to have a big battery. This is why I view removable battery system as an option for extended battery. Best practice is keeping the charge between 20 to 80% for better power hold, and life longevity of the battery.

I wish the Note 6 will come with a removable battery.

That won't be the case if the Z5 comes with a different soc and android 6.0. Furthermore samsung isn't capable of making good standby times out of their phones when compared to sony. Surely their screen on times are better than the Z5 but it means that you can't leave your samsung phones left uncharged overnight after a day of heavy use.

AnonD-508618, 14 Mar 2016Learned a lesson: Larger batteries is not proportionate to... moreCorrect; it costs a manufacturer extra $$$ when they choose the most power efficient parts (with same or near performance), or they can opt for super crazy power efficiency and not "play the spec sheet numbers game".

Unfortunately without testing, we the consumer have to go by "the numbers" often being misled.

Real world performance is what matters.

I have a tablet that cost more money than some people think it should.
I KNOW that the manufacturer opted for longevity and power efficiency, with parts that cost noticeably more to include.

Not saying that the cheapest products are bad (they often have 'exceptional' "bang for buck")... -I am saying, however, many a time, 'you get what you pay for'.

Spec sheets should be posted with a short blurb highlighting any specific design implementations that are likely to matter more, to we the consumers, than just raw numbers.

Better camera sensors often have less megapixels, batteries can have a range of cell designs, screens can implement all sorts of layer technologies, and everything from building materials to companies environmental impact just don't matter when we compare 'just the specs'.
Consumers who buy based on spec only are the most likely to get hurt, when buying so blindly.

Like the yellow belt martial art student; a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

Personally I like high speed memory and bus designs, faster storage flash ram, and highly optimised designs (with anything that can be done in hardware, not software, wherever possible).
                            Great aerial implementations etc...
These things just are not on a spec sheet.. And likely matter more than being 100mhz faster and having a gigabyte more space to play with.

But braggers will be braggers, and by their very nature, are very vocal!

My seven months old Note5 can hardly be up and running for 5 hours with a 100% full charge. When I had Note3 and Note4 I could easily buy and replace a new battery which could hardly cost me $25. So I could use the phone for at least one year. With Note5 which I really like and it's a powerhouse there is no option to change the battery. So after seven months I am considering to exchange my Note5 with either S7 Edge or LG5.
                                The Note5 battery sucks!!!

So Samsung, you're telling me your phone of 2 years ago with a smaller battery still has better battery life than your current flagship? When are these companies gonna realize a dead phone is useless if your battery is dead. Super quick charging is useless if there is nowhere to plug in. Give use a day of hard usage and then worry about the rest. Give me a 720p screen. Give us an option to throttle the processor down when we need to conserve energy. Fix the core problem. A beautiful screen and 8 core processor won't do shit if the battery is dead.
