The signs are clear - Sony's strategy is to move to the premium segment. It's doing better than HTC.

Yes, Sony is doing a lot better than any Andriod phones. Including the game industry. Yes, the PC games have come a long well, but PS 4 is expected to sell 60 Million units by the year 2017. And now 40 million units are shipped out (2016). Plus, now Sony Pictures are coming out new movies with the 2.8 billion dollars USD. Which include Sony Music and electronic devices, Sony have risen 667% or more in the past months.

It is the features that Sony has that beats the Samsung and most important the "ASP" (Average Sale Operating Profits). Sony do not required to pay its shareholders, not like SamSung. Samsung use too much material fees and shared applications, that drag their profits. Sony uses their best photograph cameras, waterproof materials, and other features from Android that they already own. That is smart!

Only the HTC is double looser, they not only sell outdated spec. phones, but as well loosing due to inefficiencies. The only reasonable maker here is Samsung, which sells the cutting edge technology at by comparison "affordable" price and still makes profit. All hates needs to understand one important thing - no other manufacturer would be able to do this, this is only because Samsung makes almost everything themselves and own all technologies in-house. Other thing which is no in consideration here - Samsung as a whole actually makes more profit, because the above figures are from Samsung Electronics (or maybe even mobile division alone), when SE buys components from other Samsung branches these makes profit as well e.g. Gorilla Glass, Samsung Semiconductors etc.

I've used many Sony flagships and some Samsung midrangers as well as a couple flagships (so maybe my observation is not the best as I can only use two flagships for various months as example from samsung) but samsung phones started working slower a few months after using them... xperia phones started to show some decrease on performance after more than one year, and it was little. Seriously, they have optimized their phones a lot.

              It's obvious why Apple profit so much per phone, because the hardware is clearly not worth the money you spend on it. Overpriced.

                                    Revenue down 14 % (to 3.4 bill $) due to new buissness strategy of cutting down portfolio ( less phones made- less sold)
                                    But Operating income up 133%...200 mill $
                                    That was q3, that didnt include z5 sales income...
                                    So I wonder about q4 results?
