Have you upgraded your lumia 640XL? Is this official upgrade announcement from Microsoft? Also, how is this going to be different from Windows Insider upgrade? Earlier I upgraded my lumia 640Xl to W10 through Windows Insider but unfortunately due to some bugs had to downgrade it back to W8.1

Lumia 730, Pakistan, upgrade advisor says "Your phone is eligible for update, working with your mobile operator and phone manufacturer to make the upgrade available for your phone and you’ll see a notification when that’s ready.”

Updated lumia 730 dual sim last night.
At the first download it was 10.0.10586.107(little slow freeze in-between) after installing check for updates again and you will get another update for 10.0.10586.164(very stable fast)enjoining wp10 like 👍

I had my Windows 10 technical preview on an Lumia 640 for about 2 and a half months. It's not super great, but it works, better at least than my last chinese android phone (which in 3 months didn't receive even 1 mb of updates and had software issues). In 2 months on windows 10 technical preview I had about 3-4 updates. Now I'm on 166 built..
So, from my personal experience, at least in the update part, if you have the technical preview for windows 10 you get updates much faster..much like a nexus phone on android or an iphone on ios.

But after updating to W10M there will be lot of apps that will need to be updated. My advice is, format the phone after backing up > Remove unwanted apps > Install Upgrade advisor and upgrade > update the existing apps > install new apps.
There are lot of new features and new apps.
