James, 14 Jun 2010i had high hopes for nokia, but these latest unvelings just... moreI gotta agree. These recent models are truly getting out of hand.A bulk square slider aside Nokia should have really really really delay things for a good measure and that means it is CRITICAL for them to seriously underscore AND deliver their OS propositions. The N8 preview at Engadget shows a sore lack of finesse. Why release yet another typical "old" Symbian issue of incompleteness in a phone? Why kill the brand power this way?Up until now I still don't see how S^3 can be backward compatible on an X6 for example. That's important because Nokia aren't killing off the midrange portfolio fast enough compounded with too much "in-between" dumbphones, sliders and normal bars. They can still deliver value on the lower end but they still need a truly coherent execution. And 1 of that DOES NOT INCLUDE making these ridiculous form factors.

It's weird how so many people are into touch screens, I suppose that happens because it's a recent trend but I use touch screen phones since they appeared in the market almost 20 years ago and Gosh, give me some buttons, how cares about touch screens? It's old news!

I will buy one of these, this is an unconventional phone for unconventional people, that doesn't want to have the phone everybody else has, so, that's it, suck it. I'm aware that this isn't targeting my age group (over 30) but that is even better, no one I know will have it...

i had high hopes for nokia, but these latest unvelings just show lack of vision on thier behalf, the SAME old designs, same UI and just slapping on an 8GB version to the lame X6 does not win over new people. What do they care, they still sell millions of handsets and they're unlikely to be knocked off the top of the chain, UNLESS of course thier smartphone strategy is to stubbornly follow the RAZR-effect on the N8 and release recycled versions of it and claim it as a new model, this is just lame marketing and VERY lazy from a strategic point of view. I sincerely hope MeeGo changes that perception as the UI is showing a great deal of promise, moreso than Android dare i say. To spill the beans though, Nokia S Series = The MeeGo device and the replacement for the N900/abandoned Communicator series.

And this is why nokia made the square form factor

                            http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3396&idPhone2=3271

They are competing in the square smartphone form factor

                              1) Stole "X" series from SE
                              2) Stole "human curvature" design from SE
                              3) No touch screen?
                              4) Fat... Its not a mini, its a giant fat mini =/
                              5) UI looks terrible

Not my cup of tea and reading through the comments most are negative towards this phone. BUT that doesn't mean this phone sucks at all. There's a market for it and we(apparently the majority of gsmarena users)aren't the market segment. I bet my 10yrs old niece will find this mobile awesome. I'm not a Nokia fanboy or any other brand fanboy, but it's just plain stupid to be dogging this phone, when hasn't been released yet.

Stupid marketing tricks. No person with his own head and brain even thinks about Apple's restricted, cut, and tied to their own company (and cash flow) products anymore.
