AnonD-472677, 26 Mar 2016That math is in correct. It's not 64% faster, it's almost ... moreI think you forgot to subtract 1...If the new charger went to 5% in the same amount of time as the original you would say it's just as fast, not 100% faster (5÷5=1.0). 2.8-1 = 1.8
Regardless, you did point out the mistake.
And more importantly (for me) is this points out how Apple squeezes as much money as they can from their customers.

AnonD-482742, 27 Mar 2016Hmm, suggest you read a few technical article regarding Li-... more I've had my iPad Pro for almost 5 months now and have only used an AAPs (Apple Authorized Part) on it it for a safe, short-term replacement until the times when an Apple Lightening/USB cable crimped and I purchased an Anker cable to take it's place until the replacement Apple cable arrived. It's possible, I suppose (as I'm no electrician, electrical engineer, etc.), that the Anker parts somehow destroyed the charging mechanism (?) but, of all of the admissions of people using OTA (Other Than Apple) parts don't seem to exhibit any more problems than those using APPs, I don't see a correlation.
So I ordered the fast-charging items described in this article. APPs that allegedly allow the battery in the iPad Pro charge more quickly. If they work, great. If they seem to degrade more quickly, I'll have two years to measure performance and make a decision.
It's too good a choice to pass up.

Fast charging is fantastic, it is as important as battery life. Over the normal life of a phone fast charging has little effect of battery deterioration based on my experience with several different phones.

Tech-9, 27 Mar 2016i bet you like to wait 21h instead 7h to fully charge arent you ?Hmm, suggest you read a few technical article regarding Li-ion charge cycles/elevated temperatures and then decide whether to stick with a longer charge time, pay someone to open up your Apple device and fit a new battery or ditch it completely and pay the usual Apple premium to buy a new device!!

Apple just up to its usual tricks (milking its customers) I'm afraid. Here in the European Union (EU) a ruling came out a few years ago that all new mobile phones, tablets, etc had to be charged via Micro-USB. When Apple changed over to the lightning port they got around the ruling by bringing out a Lightning to Micro USB adapter. Did all Apple iPhones and iPads sold in the EU come with this adapter in the box? Did they heck!! Punters had to purchase them separately for an extra 25€!! Fortunately other manufacturers soon began marketing much cheaper versions of the same thing. Probably the only reason Apple didn't set their lawyers onto those manufacturers was that they realised they were skating on thin ice!!

Fast charging is handy but also a perfect way to kill you battery in 1 year.
Why? Batteries hate high temperatures and fast charging does make batteries get hot.
Changing a battery would be nice but... all of them are build in in a irritating way to change by yourself...

Question: Do you think Apple doing things like this is good for their customers? Perhaps you believe most Apple customer's are too stupid to notice they're getting ripped off and nobody should complain.

Makes me think that you are just obsessed with everything Apple does and too ashamed to admit it. Stupid people become so dump to buy that much expensive charger they could include that in the box with the device... Now I-zombies will buy that and then greedy company will change the power socket again....... And all of you will buy a "better charger" again....
