Jon SWE, 18 Jun 2010I dont get people saying it look cheap, or ugly. Its prett... moreI agree with everything you said about this product and like it how nicely you put it all together in a realistic way. Yes I like the design as well and I can see a market for these devices like I said in an earlier post for this same that because most of us are hardcore mobile users we can't really see the importance of Camera for photographers, those people use phones mostly for talk or messages so something like this, with a neat design like this will give Leo a try because it is a camera, and it is more than a text-talk phone in a package. Picture quality and battery time is however a deal to know here.

Lets hope they deliver this to Europe and perhaps north America.
There are some questions.
CPU? but considering HD recording, its at least as capable as Arm Cortex A8 600Mhz, so there should be no problem.
RAM? COnsidering HD recording, and Android 2.2 talk, It should be atleast 256MB.
Storage? well if this gets Android 2.2, that should be no problem, just add a large memorycard.
Screen? the resolution is said to be WVGA by some sources, so that is good.
Screen in direct sunlight? Might be a problem, phones are to a large majority used under oher lighconditions, but considering you would like to take a lot of pictures with this, you do want to use it even in direct sunlight.
Wifi? Sources say n standard, so that is really good
HSPA? some sources say so, so that good
Picture Quality? the only contender here would be Nokia N8, with larger sensor, but lesser optics. In other word, really good for a phone, perhaps even on par with digital compact cameras, since Altek is on or the biggest manufactor of digital cameras.
USB? Should be there
BT? should at least be 2.1, and therefore cover most uses.
Headphone post? 3.5mm, most likely
GPS? Its an android, and a modern highend phone, so it should be there
Battery? well this is the biggest worry, it has a xeon flash, zoom motor, pretty fast CPU, it has WVGA resolution screen, It runs Android and will use data connection... the screen is only 3.2 inch, that could save a little... But we have to hope that theyve really put some effort on that or included a very capable battery.
Could it be a hit product.
Well the brand isnt as well know as it should be.
Highend devices have some tough competition.
Size might put some off.
But I really think there are a lot of people out there looking for this kind of device. So probably quite good success considering it has to be considered a niche product at this stage.

I dont get people saying it look cheap, or ugly.
Its pretty scaled down when it comes to looks, clean design.
I would say that it looks like a high-end clean design product. Sure it looks like a digital camera on one side, but you cant really hide good optics, so I rather that it looks like a camera and performs like one, than it looks like a phone and take pictures like a phone!
Its not really eyecatching, since we seen so many clean-design products during the most part of the 00s. But it will not turn heads away either. Might go unoticed. But not ugly in any way. I could accept someone calling it booring, since it looks ordinary, but booring is far from ugly and far from cheap.

[deleted post]Since they make digital cameras that other big manufactors rebrand (Altek is one of the largest digital camera manufactors in the world, if not the largest), you actually mean that most compact digital cameras in the world are crap, despite branded with well known brands, since they are actually Altek cameras.
dont make comments, when you dont know the background

Wow. Judging by its specs it doesn't sound half bad. Considering the price is about 400 euro. That's cheaper than the N8 and way cheaper than the iphone, whatever version.
I might get this as my 1st Android 2.1 mobile, seeing it also has a WVGA screen. And my digital camera gave up its ghost last week. =.= So this might be a good replacement. =D

If the image quality is good, this is great news. Samsung never realeased the M8920 and this is much better than M8920 would ever be, because it has Android.
Manufacturers have reached a point where MP count won't be suffice as a sales argument. Optical zooms and Xenon flashes are the way to go, along with HD video. I hope other manufacturers will follow.

not a phone i'd be purchasing myself but a decent effort all the same. The best thing to come from this phone will be the pressure other manufacturers will have to follow suit on the camera capabilities with their next releases. Apple will find its way to put a camera like this on the iphone in 2015 and charge a bomb for it.

well,i think besides a good camera and a good OS a phone also needs a good support and trustable warranty to become a good phone and as it seems it's high on megapixels but it doesn't pack a proper censor for that so i think we'd better wait and see some photoes being taken by it and then compare them with likes of n8 to findout the better cameraphone and not to mention that they have not said anything on processor and gpu!

starting to look like a real camera phone. Without a real lens that gathers a decent volume of photons, most "camera phones" are a joke when compared to a dedicated point and shoot camera. It's not clear to me if this product has image stabilization which I view as required feature.
just add voice and text to a good compact digital camera and one has a great product. It will appeal to a substantial number of users who have no need for portable gaming device, but would like the option of not carrying a phone and a camera. A netbook sized device provides great coverage for the featutes such a phone does not provide.

Anonymous, 17 Jun 201014M camera! With android! N8 and iPhone looks so outdated n... moreThe n8 totally looks outdated compared to this phone, but not the iphone. The fact that the n8 won't be released till later this year, and this phone might even be released months before the n8. But the iphone4 is a different story. The iphone4 already sold out over 600,000 units in preorders. It will never be outdated by this newbie. Although camera phone lovers should consider this phone more than the n8 :)
