You are holding your iPhone 4 the wrong way, you know!

25 June, 2010
Yesterday's iPhone 4 launch was full of surprises - dead-on-arrival, yellow spots or white dots on the screen, lost reception signal and a bunch of happy users. But while yellow spots will likely disappear...

Ron, 25 Jun 2010I am a iphone 3G user, this is exactly how I hold my phone ... moreThank you! At least someone here knows what they are talking about.

Sorry guys, this IS a design problem, and it needs to be fixed. When some people were having trouble with their USB on N900, Nokia never said they were plugging it in wrong or anything like that! They took it back and got the problem solved. Apple needs to do the same.

Bricked, 25 Jun 2010It's a shame Nokia aren't as media orientated as Apple, the... moreooo nice try there buddy, but you failed to bash nokia just like apple failed to make a phone that you can make a call holding it in more than one way. Nokia has how many phones out at a time? yea 100+.. apple has how many out at a time? 1! thats right, ONE PHONE YOU IDOIOT FOOL... if they can't make the MOST IMPORTANT function of thier one phone right after working on it for so long, they've FAILED! admit it, swallow ur apple ego and admit they screwed up where EVERY OTHER compnay wouldn't have. My nokia n900 has no problems (either has anyone one of the 6 nokia's ive had) and nor would nokia mess up something so simple....

... its sad (and funny but mainly sad) how you attempted to bring in nokia when they have nothing to do with this just to make urself feel better about this screw up.

I am a iphone 3G user, this is exactly how I hold my phone and type messages comfortably as a right hander. IMO, this is a design fault, end of story.

It's a shame Nokia aren't as media orientated as Apple, then they would get bashed at least three times a year!

The N900 USB problem is absolutely shocking and twice as bad as this, but THAT little gem went under everyones radar :)

Oddly enough, my friend earlier today showed me his iphone 4.0 and I asked "doesnt the signal drop when you cover the bottom left corner?"

I told him of the problem I had heard about, and he decided to test it. Even after covering the area with BOTH hands, there wasn't any change to his signal.

Maybe we were getting a strong signal, but my Iphone 3GS had 4 bars to his five, so it does seem strange.

So can you give me a device that does no... morehahaah talking about lexus? first of all, CALLING is the primary function of this phone... so for you to put in in car terms, it would be like not being able to put ur car into gear and then the company says, "just put skate boards under each one of your tires"..... this by far is not mistake that should be taken to be acceptable. second of all, YES we expect the phone to be flawless as apple has been working on it for over a year and a half and it costs a leg and a foot.

third of all, toyota is a piece of crap so dont talk about them in this forum...

Anonymous, 25 Jun 2010My iphone4 has full bars right now. Something that my 3gs ... moreIt's an issue that has been handled badly by Apple. Sure, it the antenna was on the top of the phone, and covering it there caused the problem it would be okay. But on the bottom? Oh dear.

But then when I think about it, this would never be an issue for me, as I'd buy a case with the iphone 4. (not to prevent damage from dropping it, I'm not that clumsy, more for keeping it in pristine condition to sell on in the future)

wahahhaha, 25 Jun 2010Oh come on cut the crap. You don't have to compare with car... moreI am not referring to HONEST complaints from those who bought the iphone4. I am personally not happy with that issue either. Who would? It's those haters that I am referring to. Those haters who in the first place wouldn't even buy the iphone even when this issue never came up.

As for my car. It was to bring a point that even fine things have flaws that we have to deal with. The iphone is one fine device, but it does not mean that it wouldn't have its share of issues.

It is not going to be a show stopper for sure! There is a million other ways to hold a phone; if the fans are pure hardcore enough...hmm, makes me wonder though...

Anonymous, 25 Jun 2010The n8's symbian^3 had already been reviewed. And believe ... morenokia does have flaws, and so does symbian.. but by releasing a statement saying "we wont be releasing the n8 until we have made sure we make it wat the customers want" makes them a bigger (more honorable) company than apple. its one thing if the workers at apple make statements like that but for steve jobs to do it put him in his place (under a rock)... just say we messed up.. we'll fix it with a new model or redesign, until then all we can do is recommend a case.
by the way.. thats another small move by apple.. knowing that you messsed up, they should give the case at discount if not free. instead they smuther people in by forcing them to pay even more for a mess up apple made. TOTALLY WRONG AND UNETHICAL in terms of business moves.

... wow, you buy a phone and can't even use it for wat you're suppposed to use it for

Tom-Helge, 25 Jun 2010I think you should read this dude: http://www.mobilecrunch.... moreMy iphone4 has full bars right now. Something that my 3gs didn't have when I'm in my office. You gain something, you lose something. You have to weigh the pros and cons. For me, I'd rather avoid covering the left bottom corner of my phone and get better signal, than hold it the way I'm used to and get fewer bars.

The iphone's new antenna does provide more bars, but there's a minor downside to it that can be easily avoided. See if you can deal with it and make a choice. It's as simple as that.

If you're one of those consumers who like to be bullied, go ahead. Don't come here and tell us about your Lexus.

Only drawbacks are old icons and web browser. Well there are plenty of themes for symbian and even Eldar mentioned that N8 will get new webbrowser. So clearly N8 is far far better than Iphone.

The iantenna gloves should be in stores soon! It's coated with iscrewed metallic compounds to boost signal strength. What a life saver!
