25 June, 2010
Yesterday's iPhone 4 launch was full of surprises - dead-on-arrival, yellow spots or white dots on the screen, lost reception signal and a bunch of happy users. But while yellow spots will likely disappear...

Apple's response reminds me of this classic comedy routine:

Patient: "Doctor. It hurts when I do this." Bends his elbow.
Doctor: "Well, then don't do that."

Apple can't even make a basic phone. Nothing is more important on a phone than the strong ability to do basic and essential phone stuff, not play iTap.

Would you buy a TV that doesn't work if you stand near it? Would you buy a laptop that doesn't work if you hold it with both hands?

If people still keeps buying this overpriced "phone" even after such scandalous massive hardware fault, then i'm sorry to have to say this say this, but Apple is nothing more than a cult.

Anyone who thinks this is something new from Apple, read the link.

Andrija Pili&#26, 25 Jun 2010I simply love the fact that the antenna is not on upper sid... moreThis is a hardware issue, that cant be resolved by software. When holding your phone, you shortcircut the antenna... so you cant boost the reception in software, the antenna would still be short-circuted.
the only solution is a recall, with a new designed antenna on your replacement. (the new antenna could either be made smaller. Or the gap moved to a place less commonly held.
Or covered by some kind of thin plastic, on the weak spot.
Non can be retrofitted by user.
So recall is the only way.

Many phones tocay have their antenna on the lower part. On the other hand the risk of cancer in your mouth is increased... but well, your brain wont suffer as much.

I just found out that when putting the palm of my right/left hand and put it over the screen, I cannot see my screen anymore, hmmmmm...must be a design flaw also. Time to go click the complain button at apple.com

i urge every iphone4 owner to bring tripod everywhere they go
and once the iphone4 rang, just mount it on the tripod
"look ma, i'm not using hand"

Not only left handed people use their left hand.
Many right handed people use left hand, while operating the phone with both hands.
Or if they carry something heavy, cause they will then use their right hand to carry that.

I hope you amercians will bring a Class act on Apples behind!
They cant solve the problem with software. And A bumber will make the specifications of the phone change. They could make a revised version, with some thinner plastic cover on that part of the antenna, but that still means every unit shiped before that rev. will be a defect unit. And needs a replacement of the whole body and antenna.

wow so this is a new feature from iphone. and what a great phone u have to buy it so expensive and u still have to hold carefully to have a gud signal reception.this is great feature.i dont think nokia SE motorola HTC LG samsung will be able to make this kind of reception thingy.its the only original great thing invented from apple new phone, gud job mr jobs.N8 will lose to iphone4 because this new no signal feature.N8 antenna will be to boring because it always say full signal, but with iphone4 u will have a new toy wonderfull feature it will lose signal sometimes so u have to take really care that expensive phone signal and dont forget if u dont want to be called by someone just hold the ipone antenna with ur hand and its done no software needed or no apps needed just simple and out of the box, wonderful tecnology.
becareful N8 symbian autocall rejection is able only come from apps,
iphone invented autocall rejection by only putting ur hand on the antenna this is will outrun 12mp or hdmi or usb otg thing.no phone will be able to do this.this low signal feature is only come from incredible genius impressive iphone4.
dont forget low signal and lose signal because accidently putting ur hand on top the antenna also eat ur battery juice so apple invented new feature for draining ur battery quickly.impresive.

I would not trust that all yellow spots will go away.
Ive had nokias with yellow spots in their screens, had to replace the unit.
This comes from manufactoring, where they use dig sheets for display producting. The center will be almost perfect, but edges not allways. So if you get a handset with a dispaly from the center part of the sheet, its good. But one with dispaly from the edges, might be very defected.

Steve rejected an important app today.

"Apple app store today rejected the "Left-handed user application" for using during a phone call. But App Store officials quickly pointed out the "Right-handed user application" was already in use and the "Left-handed app" would duplicate functionality.
Steve also mentioned that he wanted to keep user experience smooth and seamless with all apple products.
Mixed signals amongst "Left handed app" developers. Some were upset cause they spent 15+ years using their left hand while others felt it gave them the best smartphone UI experience ever.
