vrvly, 12 Apr 2016...thats only if you use same tech, see for example what sa... moreI don't see what point you're trying to make by mentioning aperture. The s7 already has a really wide aperture. This is about the resolution, and more resolution isn't better given the current limitations in the size of the sensor. You and the other guy are acting like just having more megapixels would magically make photos better. Well it won't.

AnonD-246723, 12 Apr 2016Lets hold the "success"part . Did you read the lg g5 vs s7 ... moreThe S7 camera is a huge success, as were the S6 and S5 cameras before it. I appreciate the LG G5 camera won the comparison test between the S7 and the G5, but that is just two phones. Compared to other phones, the Samsung cameras win hands down. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and took photos in Toronto and Niagara last October on my phone, as well as on my stand alone Fuji film camera. The photos from the phone were as good, of not slightly better than the camera. So yes, success is the correct word!

excalibur, 12 Apr 2016dude it is almost never about the higher resolution. there... moreSeems like you are fhd person, just go back to 2Mp, why to bother with 4K that is hard to stream, to watch/find content, to save(big files), to stabilize. But it still found a way to note3 thats became so famous for catching so much more detail than any comon digital camera. Why there are sensors in phones if in DSLR can be so much bigger? Phones are waaay not about pixel size, but about getting quantity&quality other way around. S7?-its about looks, thats why 4K in it is less sharp. Camera bump? Why was it COOL until now?

AnonD-442781, 12 Apr 2016Well no. Less light per pixel means its less clear and you ... more...thats only if you use same tech, see for example what samsung did try(something similar to P9 - using white pixels), or what sony do in their new sensor. Also P9 and Z5 got small aperture while doing great. There is no reason to get larger pixels, just aperture would be enough. They could also change camera position for less protruding, really, looks went first. They should release 2 kinds of resolution. Similar thing is going to do apple with one -or- two cameras in phone.

vrvly, 12 Apr 2016...thats why people like more pixels, you can take on digit... moredude it is almost never about the higher resolution.
there are many positive sides of having higher resolution but once the resolution becomes too much there are even bigger drawbacks.
1) there is the light issue that someone mentioned
2) to set off the light issue, oem's use a bigger sensor and in the drive for thinner phone, we are looking at camera bumps coming out. which are oh so ugly.
3) very menial problem but higher res means higher memory space occupied.

USB-C please Samsung, so when we're not using the wireless charging, we can use future proof technology in the form of an all in one charger that charges phone, tablet and laptop! See what HP have done, USB-C everywhere! No more microUSB, no one is going to take VR seriously long term, so keeping microUSB in the S7 series to support the Galaxy VR was a flawed investment long term.

vrvly, 12 Apr 2016...thats why people like more pixels, you can take on digit... moreWell no. Less light per pixel means its less clear and you get worse picture . The sensors are too small to make use of the higher resolution.

I can almost guarantee that the Note 6 will have the same camera as the S7/S7 EDGE.I think they will do something different for the camera on the S8 but on the other hand,I do think Samsung will be retiring it's S-range in the near future and start with a brand new flagship range

AnonD-442781, 12 Apr 201612mp is enough. On a 1440p screen you'd need to zoom in 3x ... more...thats why people like more pixels, you can take on digital cameras with just your phone - nobody stops at 12Mp, even if resolution was way more than human eye you would still zoom in or look at some details to enjoy what you want. It's about freezing time, its boring to be always restricted by resolution, whats there to be happy about...?

Besides, 16mp isn't even that much better, and the smaller pixels means less light per pixel and more noise. So you'd have bigger problems than low resolution.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2016i think the 12mp camera is more than enough for facebook po... moreYou think wrong. I do not want to carry 2 kilos of stupid dslr with me. The mobile phone is always with me and i want the best resolution and sensor on my phone. 12 mp are not enough because i want to zoom in many times to see some details. Not for print, only old people still print photos, but for zooming in i want more and more megapixels with a bigger and bigger sensor, of course. Think in 2 years we will have 8K tv with almost 20 mp panel resolution. How will look then your old stupid 12 mp in 4:3 on a 20 mp 8K panel ??? I already use 4K 65" tv for more than one year to see my photos big and clear and the old 5-8 mp pictures looks like hell on 4K.

vrvly, 12 Apr 2016Frequencies like note4. Still, no hopes for note6, it will ... more12mp is enough. On a 1440p screen you'd need to zoom in 3x to even match your screen resolution. Its only when you go beyond that where you could even claim to notice the difference.

AnonD-505564, 12 Apr 2016no hope ? 1- samsung is trashing sony when it comes to cam... moreThe best camera in market remains the camera of S6/ note5. I made many photos in parallel with S6 an S7 and S6 is on par with S7 as night sensitivity, but in daylight, those 16 mp in 16:9 destroys 12 mp in 4:3. Samsung must leave the 16 mp camera on S7.
