vrvly, 12 Apr 2016Frequencies like note4. Still, no hopes for note6, it will ... moreThis 12 mp 4:3 camera kills me. It is a big mistake. I will keep my S6 with 16 mp in 16:9 until S8 will come out with a camera at least so good like S6 had. I hope...

SamX, 12 Apr 2016they should stop this yearly cycle of releasing new flagshi... moreIts a business, people buy these wen they come to market after throwing old one away, also people buy at higher prices, the new flagships
So there is no way they are gonna stay with a flagship over a year.....

Frequencies like note4. Still, no hopes for note6, it will have definitely same 12Mp 4:3 camera. Instead its good news that z6 will comewith ne proc. also 25Mp seems real for sony, at least they I hope will come out with more pixels and bigger aperture. Using biggest pixels is like 12Mp forever - who would want that, I'm not iphone fan.

Let's be realistic. 6GB of RAM will be a standard in 2 years. This year only some Chinese manufacturers will implement it to make some noise in the crowded world. Snapdragon 823 would be an option, if Samsung had some better Exynos prepared. S820 and E8890 are pretty much equal. No need for better SoC. And Samsung will use the 12MPx sensor this year, and use the Note 5 design with no camera bump. Just hope they don't screw up with the availability this year...

SamX, 12 Apr 2016not much to expect with the phones today, iOS or android. w... moreI beg your pardon, the features got less (not the same), the cases of the phones nicer and the prices got up.
The companies noticed that if you have all the features you need, you will not upgrade just to get 10-50% more CPU speed, if your phone does already what you need. So they started removing it, Radio, MicroSD, IR Blaster, etc. It has to be merely useful, otherwise you would not feel "you are missing something" and need a new one.
Even the lack of Removable Battery is a trick, because for heavy users, you will need change your phone because the battery won't hold out more than 1 year anyway. Replacing a battery (I do not even talk about replacing it yourself) but have some service do it, will cost you half the phone's price because there is a lot of work to open them up (especially the likes of Samsung S6, S7, HTC, etc.), so you won't do it anyway ...

SamX, 12 Apr 2016they should stop this yearly cycle of releasing new flagshi... moreNot really. People want to buy the latest phone. What you suggest is during the third year people who want to upgrade their phone will have to buy an old phone that's been out for three years and is well behind what it could be.

i think the 12mp camera is more than enough for facebook posting. heck its even enough for printing on a little poster, it does not get pixelated. if you want a bigger better result then use a DSLR.
we have this notion that a cellphone camera should perform in par with a DSLR or a hand held camera

SamX, 12 Apr 2016they should stop this yearly cycle of releasing new flagshi... moreThere are salaries to pay for all those employees, business doesn't work that way. What you are suggesting is a noble cause, focus on getting the best out of what is there today. All good but the indifferent world of business will want to have people with your thoughts put under the guillotine. In fact no established company can really survive without continuous product launches at least once every year. they have shares, shareholders and other stakeholders to keep happy. One thing that does seem to be good in this system is the constant push in engineering though what areas get the push is the problem, example of an area that has been stagnant for over a decade is the battery tech.
With the cadence you are suggesting focus will be on efficiency of existing products, this doesn't require a large workforce to carry on, unlike massive workforce requirements when new products need to be developed, R&D et cetera. In a 3 year cadence the push in technology slows down in CPU design, RAM capacities, process node usage. Without capital investments new process nodes can't come online just because you are now ready for a new product after 3 years. That capital comes from the massive sales every year.
You are also mistaken to think in time with a 3 year gap a new product suddenly on a new process node will become very cheap, that is not the case at all, the new products on new nodes always end up costing much more as the costs to bring the new processes online is increasing with every node shrink. A costly process of today will become cost viable in the future only after a number of iterations in terms of designs after multiple customers have used the said node, amortizing the costs across design houses and customers.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2016"up to" doesn't meant it will be 25MP. And it's for all thr... moreMeh...success or not, it seems that they may consider using 23MP Sony sensor. With S7 camera it's more like "you get some, you lose some". Sure, you get bigger and better processed pixels, which makes the shots look nice (especially in lower light), but when you throw it on a bigger screen, it does lack the details, that Sony's sensor can handle. So it's more like - what you really want for yourself.

battery capacity has little impact of the life of the battery in a day. OS and power management on the hardware has also a role to play. iphone SE has somewhat shown that. it outlasted the 6s and 6s+ although the screen size was a big factor. but compared to the 5s with only a small increase in battery capacity, the iphone SE lasted longer than the iphone 5s, thanks to the OS, and hardware upgrades on power management.

they should stop this yearly cycle of releasing new flagship phones on the market. if you look at the S6 and S7, not much has change expect for the speed, ram, a few tweaks on the design, they put back things that was removed on the previous phones...
they should do a 3 year cycle to release flagship phones. thats enough time for some techs to mature and use. just like the iphone 5s and iphone SE. the SE feels a major upgrade if your coming the 5S, everything is super fast and super cheap. unlike if your coming from the 5s going to the 6, a yearly release of phones, its just the screen got bigger and the cu/gpu got a little faster, thats it.

AnonD-507785, 12 Apr 2016Yeah...how about finally improving battery tech? Hmm? We do... more"up to" doesn't meant it will be 25MP. And it's for all three devices, which definitely won't have the same camera. I highly doubt Note will have huge res considering the success of S7's camera.
