01 July, 2010
While earlier rumors of the still unannounced Nokia N9 predicted that Nokia's next flagship device will come with a 3.5-inch touchscreen now it turned out that the phone will actually feature a way larger 4" display...

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2010so why does it keep getting 'memory full' errors on phones ... moreSo many people are abandoning symbian^1. This is symbian^3. A completely new os. Is it that hard to understand?

The troublesome memory full warnings were peculiar to the n97 and it alone. The other memory warning which you get in all mobile phones comes up when you run too many applications at once and the phone is out of ram. Ram has nothing to do with the phones harddrive. Even a mobile phone with 1tb harddrive would give a memory full warning when it runs out of ram.

r 3 b 3 l, 02 Jul 2010Symbian is as good as any other mobile os out there. It is ... moreso why does it keep getting 'memory full' errors on phones with 8, 16 or 32GB of memory?

Why is it limited to VGA for the screen?

Why does it bog down and freeze and require hard resets?

Why are so many abandoning it?

Put the fax in it. We miss the Nokia 9500 and 9300I with such feature.

maybe this is AT&Ts snapdragon symbianphone which was promised. because north american 3g is supported. that text clarity on that 4" screen obviously shows its not 640x360.

I'm 101% sure nokia n8 would get symbian^4. Maybe not officially but it definitely would.

Symbian is as good as any other mobile os out there. It is the most functional and complete and if run on the same hardware would most definitely outperform any other mobile os.

The reason nokia is dropping symbian for nseries as i see it is because its always better to just create a new standard than to fix an old reputation. The n97 killed symbian. It wasn't a bad device from the perspective of a symbian guru but from the eyes of a first time symbian user, it competes strongly for the position of the biggest flop in mobile history. Considering how well advertised it was. . .

No matter how many innovations are put under the umbrella symbian, n97 veterans and friends would most probably never have faith in it again. Why not throw in a new os all together?

Symbian would most definitely not suffer from not being put in nokias top gadgets.

                      - it is open source and hence not tied to nokia. Other companies like samsung and sonyericsson would make the phones if nokia doesn't want to.

                      - qt. Means meego apps would be compatible with symbian.

                      - symbian ^4 is knocking on the door. It promisses to re intent symbian. To turn the whole ui around and show android its rightful place. Second rate.

Also, that symbian won't be included in the nokia nseries doesn't mean there won't be mindblowing phones running symbian. Remember the eseries and the rumoured sseries.

lol. Nokia is now getting desperate on making a new good high-end phone yet they FAIL! They say the n8 is the last Symbian^3 on n-series which only sounds like the n8 will be a BETA phone and those stupid nokia fans will test it out for them. Even that symbian website lost faith on symbian. And now their meego FAILS to impress and will come too late. Android is already filling in the market share. No space for Nokia. Next thing you'll know they're dead!

Symbian guru is not a relevant Symbian blog, it shut down because they were pissed why Nokia didn't invite them in N8 party plus they have no audience or web presence. I am Symbian lover and user for decade now but i heard symbian Guru name for the first time, if AAS or Symbian freak shuts down, then it will be a worry for Symbian.

There is no doubt Nokia let itself down in recent past, their current worries is result of their own laziness and inefficiencies, yet i strongly believe Nokia has ability to bounce back, if they want to do so, this time they don't need to experiment alot, just high specs plus Symbian 4 and Meego will do so.

Plus we need cheaper smartphones in the world as well.

Another piece of crap to be launched on the market, then for the customers to go thru the agony of living with the false hopes and the tons of bugs (i.e. Nokia's "super" promised features). Add to this the torments of trying to fix it by sending feedbacks and receiving firmware updates just like with the N97, and the ones before. I am done with you Nokia, no more of your crap. Hope it won't be the same with the other manufacturers though !!!???
