terrible by sony they realized that the device strugless deliverying a decent frame rate imaging with betetr graphics .,.. drop in fps .... too bad for old gen ps4 users they will have lag on demanding games sorry for u guys .... so they will cover their backs saying that it is not a game console issue insted programminf related ... id like to see how old gen ps4 runs new games graphics and games made for ** same device ** well for good performance they will be outing 1080p and 4k games but too much trouble ... other way is kind of same grphics but 4k compatible too because other wise 4k and better graphics will only work good but for neo ps4 ......

this is so stupid, playind 4k is not good for playing shooter games or fast games, all games can run just at 24 or 30 frames at 4k, until we get the displayport 1.3; games should run at least 50 frames...

Game developer has already inked out most of it's gpu power to full potential and it can barely play new triple a games at solid 1080p 60fps. Don't blame the game developer because sony should have realized this way sooner and the current ps4 model should have got the neo hardware at launch. Sony also going to launch the new playstation vr which everybody knows that vr really taxes the hardware specially gpu. The current ps4 doesn't have the horsepower to run playstation vr games at smooth framerates. Future vr games definitely need the neo ps4 horspower.

Disc copies of the games? ... doubtful those will support both.So the sad part might be the death,or crippling of physical game sales, and thus game resale, which is a big thorn in the side of Sony and game publishers

I think strategists at Sony are not that well. Cross selling - what is that? They don't know - for sure. A 4K console was what the market needed back in 2013. Also to push (Sony's) 4K TV sales. Back then 4K TV prices already dropped dramatically and this went on until now. 1080p is the new 720p.
You can get really good 4K TV sets for a very fair price at this moment all over the world. All big brands. Got myself a LG 4K TV last year during a sale. It was a joke price at a local super market here in São Paulo. But this development was clear back in 2013. I never got why Sony acted like this. No understanding of marketing or no vision at all!
Or maybe Sony thought let's force the early adopters to buy a second PS4 to attend their needs of playing in 4K. So we can sell 2 consoles to one household. Might be - but actually I don't think that they are that clever.
BTW
MS acted even more stupid with their XBOX One. A disaster for the marketing of this console. Even if the overall performance is really good. Network, online game play, the store. Very nice experience. But the "poor" graphics caused low sales figures around the globe. But I read that they are also working on a 4K version.
Bad for me, I will have to buy a second PS4.
Good for me, I still have no XBOX One but I was close to buy one. But Now I will wait to buy the 4K Version.

On paper the (now standard It would seem) PS4 has the necessary processing grunt to handle 1080p at a stable 60fps, so not sure why it consistently fails to do that.
But in any case this is not a good move from Sony, I remember when SEGA were constantly indroducing new hardware, they went from the 32X to the Saturn to the Dreamcast in just a few short years, and look what that got them!
I know Sony are a much bigger and financially more robust company, but they still may need to be careful if this is the strategy they choose to follow.........

now i guess m... moreIt is not mandatory to support the enhanced specs. Regular games will run on the PS4 and the NEO just fine. New titles with NEO support will have better visuals on the NEO and as per current in the PS4. Not a big deal.
I guess titles will be sold as per today, labeled as PS4 Games. Some titles will take advantage of the enhanced specs and advertise "HD on PS4 - 4K on NEO"

this is gonna piss off so many developers...
now i guess more Xbox exclusives will come. with following windows versions but late ps4 versions due to more work needed for developing 4k capability on console. sad for sony.
i don't care anyways. #PCMasterRace ftw
