I said the N8 has ... moreThis time with Symbian ^3 i think Nokia will do a good job, i wont doubt Nokia because they really worked hard for it and still they are by polishing the OS more and more while getting close to the launch date. Ur right, we have to wait and see, but still i used lots of brands mate and nothin chops it up as phone but Nokia.

I remember when the N97 was announced and video's started popping up on the net everything seemed to work fine but once released certain features were removed and the phone just didn't seem to work right.
So yeah we will wait for the N8 put it through it's paces and then decide, after all it's always us the end users who seem to find these bugs.

What u can produce out of it is wat counts, not what u can make people SEE. Did u see what can u do out of the N8 ? HDMI, USB on the GO, !2 mp CZ lense, Web live tv, etc .. These things are useful in real life, and so many people are happy with the 1.7 million, why ??! Just go see age range of these people and ull knw who gets them, plus did u see the world other than the U.S ? Go count how many Nokia devices people carry wether its Low, med, or high range ..
And the N97 was released November 2009. Wait for the N8 and see what it offers.

wow people yes nokia said that the N8 is the last Nseries to have symbian
and if would would of paid attention
N8-00 is the 12mp model
this is obviously the N8-01
since it's the same shape and form factor
and N8-00 and N8-01 are considered the same model since it's still named the same
if it was really called the N9 then it would be a different model

Best example would be the N97. look here! Nokia currently don't have a phone they can bring to the table and proudly announce they have the best phone in the world. N8 has not been released so N8 don't count. N97 the current Nokia High end Smartphone simply is the worst smartphone ever produced. Apple proclaiming the Iphone to be the best is perfectly Legit, which other phone sells 1.5 million units in 3 days? Vodafone (UK) alone shipped 50 000 units in a day when they introduced the 3GS, something that Nokia have not managed to do since whenever.
The Iphone may not be best phone on the planet but it is certainly the best selling phone. So how do they do it? Why can't Nokia emulate this marketing strategy? One answer could be they "Nokia"are making really poor phones which drives people to Apple and android "Europe" after all Nokia themselves seem to have accepted the fact that they are behind at the high end level and perceive themselves as challengers rather than leaders read "THE FIGHTBACK STARTS NOW" over at Nokia conversations.
The other reason could be that the millions of people willing to part with their hard earned cash for an Iphone are totally blinded by this marketing that Jobs seems to be so good at but at the end of the day my experience with the N97 and my girlfriend's Iphone 3GS tells me that the later is a better phone.
So until the N8 drops and we put it through the paces Nokia are down in the dumps where HIGH END smartphones are concerned.

stop calling this the N9!!!!!!!!!
it's an N8-01 QWERTY landscape sliding phone with a smaller camera because due to the sliding mechanism it would have made the phone too thick!!! This phone replaces the N97.

Hi all .. I'm here to explain to you what a SmartPhone is in my opinion incase u forgot :)
Smart:(SMART is secondary because a phone should act as a phone to start with)
1.Multitasking (real multitasking), GPS, Camera, Office word, excel, powerpoint (Reader or editing) etc..
2.Internet browsing, email, etc..
3.Youtube, facebook, twitter etc..
PHONE = COMMUNICATION which means:
1. Phone calls
2. Video calls (not just through wifi and both devices should be identical, it kills the whole purpose) e.g.: lemme sit at home and video call my cuzn while he is at home, unless u have so much time and just figured to waste ur time)
3.SMS
4.MMS
5.Bluetooth (Sharing with other smartphones is a part of communication, not just which to devices of the same brand)
6. Infrared (which is dieing slowly but still used in some devices, which is considred under communication) NOTE: Making all communication types in a phone is good because u can share with any device old or new.
7.Wifi
8.Battery life (battery life is under Phone because as long as u have battery u can communicate)
9. USB (Micro, or any.. As its considered a good idea for charging ur fone on any different fone charger other than ur brand)
A smart phone these days have been forgoten for multimedia which doesn't serve in functionality, if a smart phone is not so smart and can't communicate what's the use of it ?! If a smartphone can't serve me and just would let me play with its touchscreen and download games and apps for it then what's the use of it ? U want apps ? Get Ipod touch, u want games get a nintendo DS..
A huge company like Apple had nothing at all, they got consumers by a brilliant marketing strategy which affected lots of people, their marketing strategy is good because they have no functionality so they just did something that looked good and felt good and to a viewer is just nice to see but has no functionality what so ever, and that marketing strategy includes:
Making a big deal out of nothing, and making their brand look the best:
1. Steve jobs kept on saying its the most beautiful and precise thing out there several times and saying isn't that cool ?? (which shows the way he wants u to think abt the product and make u think that its the best, to get excited and go buy it.
2. We have video call (only on wifi) isn't that amazing ?? We had dreams abt it since the Jetsons..(See that's making a big deal out of somthing while its already out there for years)..
3.These r examples of what he said, and go to the apples website, ull see a banner saying the "This changes everything. Again" What did change ? Phone calling ? Touchscreens ? Everything was out there they just polished it to look good for the poor consumers who look at good stuff. Its like seeing a fresh juicy orange which has nothin inside, it's a all looks that's what fools people. There are lots of stuff but I'm just tired of typing.
4. Apple products for example, they brag about having no viruses in their systems which really attracts consumers, well u have nothin compatible to start with to get some viruses and it all feels empty, just good looks and no functions again.
This sums it up for me, a little about me.. I have used every smartphone out there (including iphones) now using a nexus one and blackberry bold 9700 .. I'm not happy till now cause functionality is missing for me, I'm waiting for the N8 which I guess ill settle with, Nokia has served me well through the years and they still do, I'm not a Nokia fan no I have used everything out there,(mostly top tier phones) u name it and ill say yes but out of all phones Nokia (Mostly used coomunicater till the E90) does serve in all SMARTPHONE meanings.
This is not bashing or critisim, this is an advice from a fellow smartphone user, I don't hate apple I approve their fine OS and multi touch features but I said, looks are one thing for the eyes to see not to produce nor funtion.

Oh ya I forgot somthing, to prove apples Weasel marketing strategty, all of u remember the iphone 4 leaking all aorund the world ? A company as big as Apple would let that happen u think :) ?
It is intended and the whole story is intended, so stupid how some people believed that.
Ull ask me why they did it ? Simple, to get people's opinions and know I'd they need to change the shape and looks of it. Why ? Because they want it to look at its best. Why ? Because that's wat they did in everything, just good old looks which serve no purpose :)
Tricky people will always trick u, ull live an empty dream, which wen the time comes and u need somthing ull wake up and say oh that's missing, oh that's not there, oh I can't run this, oh I can't charge my phone I have no micro USB while all devices have it :)

H... moreLike Nokia themselves stated Symbian is not meant to go head on with Android and WM7 on the high end market.... In fact this n8 will be the last N-series to have it...
Meego will be coming to take over this market segment and it definitely has some potential.
Symbian on the other hand will be for the mid-range smartphones and will provide great functionality at such low prices that other manufactures will not be able to attend to..
I mean even now, what smartphone offers as much functionality as a Nokia 5800 for a similar price range?

People.
It is *NOT* N9! It has Sym^3. N9 will have Meego, that is guaranteed. Nokia has officially stated this three times now.
Also, it has nHD display, just like the reviewer says.
It just just another variant of the N8 module, but with lesser specs, and a prototype OS build that really shows.
It has to be very far from release - several months. Everything is clearly in pre-beta stage. It's not even feature complete yet.
You'd be lucky if this ships in 2010, perhaps not at all, if it's not done by Q1/2011.
