Yet another video of Symbian^3- based slider Nokia N9 appears

04 July, 2010
While the name of the rumored Symbian^3-running Nokia slider (a.k.a. Nokia N9) is still a mystery, its hardware and software are already pretty familiar to us. After all, the device appeared on numerous...

[deleted post]Whoooo..... I aint a basher, I was just asking Man....

However, I do have a Nokia 5800 and some of those things you mentioned are available even in my old symbian.

- I can see whole webpages easy...
- Ovi store is sometimes useless, however, outside there are thousand of useful Symbian apps and thousands more compatible Java apps..
- Skyfire and Digia web shows full flash 10.1 on my 5800. Yes it is somewhat laggy but that is due to the lack of hardware on the 5800. On the N8 I believe it should work well... Also similar to Android, Adobe and Nokia are working to bring full Flash 10.1 to Symbian too. Flash on N900 was just amazing..
- So too in Symbian. But I have 5800 so to widget homescreen but that new SPB shell is very good at that, and looks good too..

And please lets keep this discussion free of unwanted filth.

I have really bad experience with Nokia N97 I bought it brand new from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and after one day from the unboxing it started to hang even I cant receive calls. I went to repair for software download and upgrade but nothing this gave me the impression that Nokia is going down.

Screen ratio is 16:9 but how can you say it is 640x360?? See the sharpness of text on video, do anyone believe 360x640 can produce this sharpness. No way.. Clearly it has more resolution than 360 x 640. Btw Meego device will also follow screen ratio of 16:9 for scale-able ui.

                                Nokia's are getting old.

I've been a user of the symbian platform since.. ehm.. it was released. Been using nokia phones for more than 10 years.

The last phone I had was the N97. I try to do my best to adapt to this UI, but I cant do it anymore!! Today I tried my friends android phone, the HTC desire, and wow what a difference!!

Eveything was smooth, there is no waiting when openning applications, no lag, just fast. when you are going to insert some web address, you dont have to tap the textbox again to show the keyboard, it just appears when you need to write something. In symbian, you would have to tap the textbox once to activate it, and again to show the keyboard, that is stupid.

Also there is simply no app integration in my N97, everything work separately, if I want to check my mail, i have to open an app and if I want to configure my phone, i hve to open another app.

So I'm seeling my nokia phone and getting myself an android, probably the newly released 4G.

android OS is evolving way faster than symbian, if there is somthing that it lacks, a new version is released in few months and fix the issue, in nokia, you will have to buy a new phone to get a updated os.

The screen and text clarity speak for themselves.

The standard laptop screen size is 15.4" with resolution of 1200x760. That means 59,220 pixels per 1"diagonalled rectangle you draw on the screen. Can you count the pixels of the average laptop? Is the screen quality poor? The supposed resolution of this phone is 640x360 and screen size is 4". That means 57,600 pixels per inch. If you own a computer, by your definition, you are a fool. My nokia n95 8gb has a 2.8" screen with 320x240 res. So does the sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro on its 2.55" screen. That means 27,428 pixels on the n95s and 30,117 on the sonys. By your definition, users of these mobiles are fools. Read gsmarenas review of the n95 8gb and the sony.

Whats the use of having lots of extra pixels if the difference can only be told with the use of a microscope? The fact that the competition offers something better doesn't make this one inadequate.

Too many pixels on a small screen is not all joy. Iphone 4 users can testify to this. When browsing pages designed for pc viewing, you'ld often find yourself adjusting font size hence distorting the whole page. You'ld also have problems viewing images as less space than the eye can take is used in displaying them.
