The European Commission charges Google for abuse of dominant position

The Commission has sent Google Statement of Objections regarding Android and the apps running on it.

And where is the problem for us,the users ?

    why don't they go after apple for not licensing iOS or allowing other devices to install iOS or OSX.

      Well, most phones rn running on Android and we all know that Android is owned by Google. So if Android phones have pre-installed Chrome and Google Search, I see no problem in that.

        Tweedus101, 20 Apr 2016Can the same not be said for the likes of apple and the IOS... moreI suppose reason behind European Commission going against Google is that Android is actually an Open Sourced Operating System but Google's practices kills it's positiveness of being Open Sourced. Had Android been Google's proprietary, these practices would have made sense. But doing so currently goes against the idea of Open Source.

        This very same reason may be why Apple is not in their bad books.

        But again even Microsoft was challenged for pre installing Internet Explorer Browser and Media Player (I, on my most stable saneness, couldn't understand this.) I mean an Operating system is expected to come with built-in applications/software to perform specific tasks. Imagine an operating system with no pre installed application software for tasks like calculating, browsing web, listening to music. These are the basic requirements. So you can't actually question their logic behind these acquisitions.

        It could be some personal Vendetta or Under the table deal or even perfectly logical step according to them.

        I have no grudge against anyone. Just my point of view.

          Google is so busted. I'm glad the European Commission doesn't just stand there, it acts. Hope it does the same with Apple, Samsung and carrieers.
