Microsoft do not repeat again manufacturing phones like Nokia lumia 520 720 and 930...
Also stop manufacturing favorites phone like Asha (200,210,230,501,...) series and Nokia X android (X,XL,...) series...
in simple phone Microsoft good work:
    Nokia 105(2016), 130, 225, 230 is very nice phones...
but Microsoft will not forget the Java OS!!!
Nokia 206 as nicest feature phone and Nokia Asha 210 as nicest qwerty phone the best of them...
    thanks

heynekko, 25 Apr 2016Nope.. It was NOKIA who gave life support to WP.. All the w... moreWP was before Nokia and remains after Nokia is gone, the big change in UI hasd happened because of Apple and google. Yes of course MS benefited from Nokia's prestige and craftmanship, but the exclusive deal happened to protect Nokia from internal competition.
If they were joining android os, such competition would destroy them, as they were unable to offer cost effective devices and adapt as fast, in such a highly competitive inviroment.
In the big touchscreen displayvera Samsung took over exactly because of their screens, i remember owning Omnia 2, a super amoled wp device, with the best screen even seen untill then, nokia could never compete with such hardware and their best bet was to offer a software experience others couldnt, baby android was destined to rule the world because of their open source spirit. Android would be the OS of choice for most of the firms, as it offered significant cuts on OS development and being the global OS guaranteed the eventual and inevitable support of the app/gaming devs. Nokia and MS have failed to compete with Appe and Google for the dev support, because of the massive percentages of market share they had, making an alternative OS there was a bad idea, it was bound to be third at best and chances were it would be bellow MS too, so suddenly Nokia had to choose to be third, or be extincted, which naturally eventually happened anyway, this is how nature works, you adapt, or you disappear... They never stood a chance, only their blinded fanboys cannot see that!
Meego would follow the fate of firefox os and so many more failed experiments, blackberry and Samsung prooved that you cant survive without the dev support, heck this is why WP is dying even today, android was destined to rule and Apple is an OS maker, so they would dominate the devs support and any other OS was destined to fail. At least with the MS alliance Nokia new that they would save costs from the software development and have a guaranteed ally who is a master on the field, their dedicated fans, along with dedicated Nokia fans and hopefully some casual windows users would give this third option a try.
That was Nokia's best bet to survive there and then, since this has failed, they have no chance now.
Now they have to grip on the market, no hope on developing their OS, no hope on competing with Apple for the premium market, no hope on competing at cost effectiveness with the Chinese firms, no hold on GSM networks they used to enjoy, they dropped all that when touchscreen have appeared, MS would too, if their mobile division was autononous!

Aspros, 24 Apr 2016Maybe you are too young to know, but i was not referring to... moreNope.. It was NOKIA who gave life support to WP.. All the while WP is sucking the life out of Nokia.. Samsung tried to carry WP and failed.. HTC tried to carry WP(They had great WinMo products) and failed.. Twice.. Only NOKIA had the strength to breathe life into the dead OS which is WP.. If Nokia went to android they will be on top of Samsung now.. But actually they don't have to.. because they had Meego which is the most advanced OS ever and they even introduced the perfect and sublime swipe UI that many has just started to emulate.. WP and all it existence today owe it all to NOKIA and without Nokia they are doomed

It's expected. That's because Microsoft isn't making as many phones. They are only on a few carriers. Microsoft isn't interested in making phones. They want the OEMs to do that.

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2016Your comment is one of the most uninformed comments I have ... moreMaybe you are too young to know, but i was not referring to that era, but the earlier era, when Nokia was a global sales leader, which was mostly caused by the fact that they were the most prestigius mobile maker, a time when the primary threat was only Ericsson.
Comparing to the Ericsson mobiles ,Nokia were much more expensive, with more restrictions and less features, but they had superior marketing, design and prestige due to their prices.
This is the nostalgia era of the nokia fanboys. They were already in decline when Elop took over. Imo, they were doomed anyway, they were never good at competing with anyone at cost effectiveness, so the decision to go into an OS no other had and would have access to, was their only option, as they were always failing miserably to adapt in the large touchscreen era, it took them more than a year to find an answer to the 1st iphone, let alone to compete in a unified OS with some much competition.
They simply cant and if they didnt have that exclusive deal with MS, they would have failed in the wp front as well! So Elop might have halted their inevitable decline, on androud tgey woukd have suffered so much more and gone bankrupt earlier, imagine if they had to compete with LG for pricing the same specs, with HTC for the sound, samsung for the displays, sony for sturdyness and apple for owning the premium market, o boy, history was actually polite to them and saved them from the embarrassment!!

Now l don't want to do hard reset or try Windows Device Recovery Tool because l will lose my data (yes l never bothered to back up). Do you think this issue will sort itself with time if l just ignore it and sit it out. I am in no rush because in the meantime I can use any of my many other devices including the 950 XL. But will this problem eventually resolve itself?

I really wish the best of luck to nokia, and the worse to microsoft. They purposefully took down nokia. If you read online there are sources indicating that it was planned all along, really shame on them! I hate microsoft, and I'm glad sony is kicking their butts with PS4 and in mobiles. Microsoft has only 1 strong card in their hands, microsoft operating system on pc's.. but this also reports losses because of windows 10.

The Nokia brand had a loyal following and huge sales numbers for a very long time because their phones were practically indestructable. Up until the Lumia phones the prices were in line with other phones with similar features.

It was Stephen Elop, who came over from Microsoft, who screwed up the brand and pricing with his poor decisions, such as only selling over priced Windows phones with average specifications.

Microsoft's mobile division not exceptional anyway from the start but the Windows for mobile and computer should not be different that's what was the success when I had a other Windows mobile device with windows XP a cheap device then both phone and computer worked as one NOT this messed up Idea Microsoft had so the Lumia is a very lost plan unless Microsoft can take the stick out of some place and use their mind and not their pockets.Work on your Windows and the devices now!!.
