Microsoft will reduce OneDrive free storage to 5GB starting on July 27

22 April, 2016
Last year there was a bit of a kerfuffle involving Microsoft's cloud storage service, OneDrive. The company announced plans to cut free storage from 15GB to 5GB, and also get rid of the additional 15GB camera roll bonus altogether.

IN MY DAY....You could use Microsoft Office for free for ever because you PAID FOR IT. Don't consider a free year of Office a good thing. Consider a discount a good thing.

Microsoft said "lets compete with dropbox!" Then they crapped themselves and ran.

it's not as bas as it seems; still a bit crap though but at least you can get office 365 for a year for free; also you will have 9 months after 27 july to get your files off the cloud :)

I just happen to like doing it in a rather innocent way, unlike other commenters here who just get cynical.
And those are very much my own sentences sir, however incorrect they might be. Maybe your party-proof helmet clouds your eyesight or hinders your imagination in some other way i can't think of, but if you took another look at my original comment you might see there's actually some criticism in it.
Cheer up your sourpuss buddy, try smiling a bit. If you think you're all grown up for making comments like that you need to take a good look at what kind of grown up you want to be.

And the punches just keep coming. Looks like MS is just giving up on WP without even hiding it anymore. It looks like the leadership at MS has a problem with reasonable thinking. And I'm talking about all branches: Xbox, Windows and mobile department. They really are in for a fall, and they don't help themselves with those kind of decisions.

The amount of storage was the only thing that Onedrive had going for it. Time to jump ship.

They got just small % of all phone users, they are not doing great then.

Fortunately I discovered the link in time to keep the 15Gb - but I pity those that will lose their data due to yet ANOTHER idiotic move by a company that's seemingly slowly committing suicide - painfully! :S

HERE maps was owned by Nokia (yes, still very much alive) and sold to some German car companies. Windows 10 Maps still use the HERE map data, which Microsoft just licenses from HERE.

-We really should iron out those crippling bugs and random crashes...
Yeah Paul, like we haven't considered that already. Our userbase likes the garage indie feel of our OS, we established that a long time ago.
-Well, we could offer some kind of compensation or prize for app developers to port their apps to windows... Maybe directly pay them for bug free, competitive apps that work as fast as Android ones?
JESUS Phil, don't you know we are POOR??? For chrissake we should be thankful Satya let us put a flagship device last year.
-Hey, what if we just lowered EVERYTHING? I mean let's sell our maps service and leave everyone wondering what we're doing for navigarion for the next year or two... We could also lower our onedrive free storage. You know, so everyone asks themselves what the f*ck we're doing! Adrenaline dude, that always spices things up. Puff some?
THANKS Tom. See? Someone's been paying attention. Synergy, blablabla. Everyone out, now! And of course Tom, thank you *puffs and takes the joint from Tom*
