Smartphonesss......., 10 Jul 2010I have been tracking N8 for last few montths......Did a lot... morebut you don't need that much ram when you could use a 16 & 32gb, unless you plan to store your whole life-time of data on your smartphone.
you could also swap data over bluetooth, wifi & over 5 different 3g network around the world, no other smartphone could do that.

I have been tracking N8 for last few montths......Did a lot of readings from this I got an idea....
N8 positive
1.12MP Carl Zeiss camera
2.OMLED
3.Voice Guided GPS
4.Xenon Flash
N8 Negatives
1. Practicably non removable battery
2.Symbian beta version(Being last of its OS might turn to Android.Y couldnt they do it in this itself)
3.Only 256 MB ram where 135 ram required for phone...121 MB ram not effective to run other applications
4.Due to RAM issue it could be hyper slow

sea-breeze, 10 Jul 2010i had n86 8mp before i switch to samsung the themes u use ... morei guess ur n86 sucked. my n86 is acceptably fast, and good. i guess u just don't know how to use a symbian OS phone

remember nokia does not charge you a fopryune for the so called slow symbian phone

the themes u use makes the phone lags and heavy and always hangs.
besides it makes the phone too slow even in browsing the gallery, the n86 was too slow it took about 10 full seconds to open the camera and start shooting ..., 20 full sec to switch from still camera to video mode .., the samsung pixon12 for an example as its the first competetor takes almost 2 sec. to open the camera , super fast as samsung jet , and never lag or hangs
the symbian is really laggy crappy and slow .., even the promots video or hands on videos on youtube shows how's the fone is slow from day one ! just imagine after a month if u fill its memory with 1gb of images and another of mp3 and videos !!! thats the point we all fuss about ... the laggy OS and Little CPU power even if the GPU says another words ... but still a truth u couldn't find a fast stable nokia fone till now.

Will this phone have a mechanical shutter like the N73 & N86? I missed it alot when I moved from my N73 to a N85.
About the symbian UI... I still can't believe all the fuss people make about it. If you don't like it, theme it (there are alot of themes out there, from simple ones to elaborate ones) If you still don't like it then it's time to move on, go get yourself an iPhone, HTC or whatever. I've had/have a few Nokia phones and so far they've all done a great job for me so this will be my next phone. The argument that "symbian is old, looks crappy, is buggy ect." got old a long time ago and is starting to get really annoying now, especially in this day and age where you have many types and different brands of phones and os's to choose from. When you're getting yourself a new phone, do some research first. Not just the specs, but the functionality YOU want in a phone.

Niraj, 10 Jul 2010I bet when N8 will come out in market, you will throw your ... moremy pixon12 was my first Non-Nokia phone from 10 yrs !! its super fast with 800mhz CPU sharp perfect camera no lags and don't hangs and pleasurable UI ! if N8 got all that with better camera sure i gonna throw the pixon12 and buy N8 !

Im pretty sure its not going to go under 400, i think its going to be near 500 euros. They just try to make people wait for the n8 promising low price. Actually they never promised it :) everyone just think its going to be cheap phone, but we wait and see, i doup that price is going to be under 400

i dont care much about the bugs, i have n97 mini
nokia continue to support you for quite a few years, the bugs people complant of are always the small one, at least not related to call and sms functions
i do care much about if the device has complete hardware spec like 3d hardware accelerator and some modern phone features like capacitive multitouch and some screen transition effect which is useful in some cases
nokia phones always come closer to the perfection, i know n97 is not good phone but still work for me.
And dont forget ovi maps, the greatest thing nokia has offered so far
