this phones camera is unmatched for months to come but with all due respect to nokia why the long delay to release the phone, by end of august there will be more superior phones from samsung and lg, and summer will be almost over. just put an android in it if you want this phone to long live otherwise it will be another symbian phone that no one cares about.

Copy Apple Os OR Android if you have to, but get rid of the blocky dull laggy interface you're so keen to keep using...

Nokia wasted a lot of their time on the camera that they forgot that their OS is ugly and boring as hell! And it's really true, people want smooth and awesome experience especially when browsing which symbian fails to deliver with it's ancient and such a nerdy looking UI. Like seriously, who the hell takes pictures of streets and flowers with their phones everyday???

I think this one will be a major hit on the market, and that is because they are focusing on one of the most important features of any smartphone today. The camera.
I know people who bought the N82 and then the N86 just because of the camera, this will be their next phone. Agreed, the N86 couldn't really match the old N82 because no xenon and unimpressive image quality.
I don't carry my Nikon D5000 everywhere with me, I don't document my work with it either, I use my phone camera in my old trusted N95 and I carry it everywhere with me, and if they decide to do a N8-2 with a qwerty, I'm totally buying it, I'm old-fashioned and I don't trust a phone with no buttons. Maybe N8-mini with a slide-out qwerty, and there you have a phone worthy replacing my soon 3yo N95. I'm not a dedicated Nokia fan but I like the freedom and features Symbian gives you.
Too bad Nokia had to postpone the release, but better late than never.

Nokia fans always keep saying thats prototype its not finished, everything goes smooth with final product etc., yes i wanted to believe that too and went to store test a Nokia n97. And daam it was a bad experience :D laggy as hell and slow too
Iv seen N8 can do better job, but how much, i still havent seen any video for fluid smooth browser experience on N8, i want to see that more because that's what i used most on my daily use

The next gen symbian browser (WRT 8) is scheduled to be released in November. And BTW, it's not a replacement for a cheap p&s, cause those don't sport such a huge sensor, neither do they have stereo audio recording. And the processor might seem ancient, but i'm yet to see a snapdragon or cortex hummingbird encoding/decoding a 12mbps 720p video. And regarding battery life, even Eldar@mobile-review admitted that it's great (though he added that 'not as great as samsung' rant!). Re software, only time will tell...

there is no point to have comments on the n8 software speed since n8 is still under software development & improvement & the preview video as can be seen in youtube are all captured using prototype n8. So NO POINT to comment on prototype phone.. this is not real n8 yet!

Nokia focused too much on the camera without thinking about the seamless experience browsing the web. At the end of the day, most people want to substitute for a computer/laptop and not a replacement for a cheap P/S camera.Nokia isn't thinking that far ahead here. Nokia needs to focus more on smooth UI and stable OS. Faster CPU and great battery life too. The photo capability will wear out fast. A novelty for a niche market. Internet >>> photography

The prototype of the Satio didn't really impress gsmarena back then. . market. . . As the satio was released it had better image quality than the prototype, but samsung pixon 12 had far better imaging capabilities. I really loved the cyber-shot lineup of sony-ericsson before, heck, I even miss my old k800i. . ok back to the topic, the reason why gsmarena is trying to review the n8 cause Nokia was boasting about it's imaging capabilities (and their hoping that it could save the company) I agree the N8 had better imaging capabilities, than those two. . but what might hurt the n8 is the UI friendliness. . I am currently owning a 5530 (the latest v30) it has kinetic scrolling for the whole UI, but in all in all it had less eye candy transitions and usability for a touch screen. . sure for old nokia users they're easy to use like me, but what I'm saying is it's not as fun to use as the touch wiz or the iOS4 (i hate steve not the phone) or android.

Harsha, 10 Jul 2010i dont know why gsmarena giving lot of attention to nokia o... moreyou know why SE satio didn't receive such attention like N8, first of all it doesn't make a sound or fuzz, it doesn't calls attention even if it is the 1st 12mp camphone. satio's 1st 3 months doesn't had a votes half of N8 and it need's a lot than the number 12 in satio's cam to be interesting like carl zeis, biggest sensor, sexy boby and xenon flash.
SE satio is a great example why expert says MP race is just an illusion, 5/8mp camphone can give same quality with 12 mp camphone. N8 is an exemption to that notion, be open minded (just swallow ur pride) and see UNEDITED pics of N8. and for sure u'll be amazed.

Yup..maybe iphone is no bugs(mayb)..but you will no understand w ¡thout end how great im using the Bluetooth to let me transfering files(multimedia,0ffice,contacts) with my NOKIA phone whatever is S60 or S40..And Im no understand why a phone called *smartphone i means that "icrap" cannot using the Bluetooth to sending files even bluetooth it is a simple basic technology used many years ago???

For me..I think other brands phone is the normal as Im NOKIA fan..
People think that NOKIA doesn have a software upgraded or features juz they see only the ui of their device..
SymbianOS is the most user friendly n powerful operator system in the mobile industry..of c0urse..d¡fferent os has different u¡..
SymbianOS is grow up fast3r this few years..and doing great and work fin3..lol
Some people like to said Symbian is hangged..lagged..But for me..it is not..s0metimes the UI can bringing "¡llusion" for the users..u know my means..lol
