Lumia 950/950 XL could get 'double tap to wake' feature if there's enough demand for it

Replying to a user query on Twitter, Microsoft's Gabriel Aul said that it's a common request, and asked the user to upvote it in Feedback Hub.

Double tap to wake is a missing feature on the Lumia 950 and 950XL? I tought a flagship would have that at least. I have it on my Lumia 930 so why do the 950 models lack this feature?

If you are on android, there are many apps that use the phone's sensors - gyroscope, proximity - to turn on or off the display of the phone.
My favorite it Gravity Screen. To turn on the display I just need to pick up my device or wave my hand in front of it. To turn it off, just place the device on a flat surface, face down or head down (for when it's in the pocket).
There are also timers and angles in settings so you can customize it the way you want. Workes great on rooted and non rooted phones. Here's the link if you wanna try it:

mir, 30 Apr 2016Oh great. Cripple your flagships even more MS. That'll get ... moreIt's funny how they remove features and then buy themselves time by pretending it's based on demand.

I would hate to buy an MS car only to have the newer model come without wheels and only if demand is great would they start supplying wheels.

Just leave mobile setment, MS. Don't bother to do it. Just makes me furious. You destroyed Nokia, made thousands of people unemployed, killed a whole "iconography" with stupid "live tile".. I hate everything about you so far.

This is what I find so sad about Microsoft.
I'm a fan of WP since WP7 but one thing has not changed since then.
Microsoft is just not able to act consistently. The have a huge amount of good ideas but they almost never become something tangible. The ideas that evolve to features, services or product are not deployed to stay it seems. This great feature that no one else used effectively has been implemented randomly it seem. At first I thought that it was a hardware thing but it became clear that it's just because thery are a bunch of incompetent nitwits at Microsoft, at least on management level. It's clear that the creative minds have no guidance, no out of the box vision.
Sad, just sad. I remain a fan of the WP platform but for how long?

I want to see is led notification on Lumia 735 and a better battery performance, cause now with data ON need charge two times a day, without data only one time a day, and with WiFi turn ON i only charge in 3 days hahahaha thats insane xD Spend more battery wen on data or just turned ON than spend using WiFi :P

It's a lame excuse, everybody knows there is no even demand at all. This feature may or may not. Next model of Surface long over due. If 820 is not launched this year, it's good bye as in their phone's.

Seriously? The 950 doesn't have double tap to wake? It costs ten time more than the Lumia 640 which DOES have it! So odd. So Microsoft.
