Modu phone is now selling in UK, costs 130 pounds

14 July, 2010
Do you remember the modular phone announced back in MWC 2008? It's been selling in some markets for a couple of months, but now it lands officially in UK with all of its jackets. Modu phone is one of the...

I got one already like 3 months ago from mobicity. It's kinda cool and I use when going out to the clubs etc but keys are too small for texting and I don't use the jackets much except for the photo frame.

A different concept, but I don't see the appeal. Certainly not with the currently available jackets, features and the price point. No 3G, No Wi-Fi, a tiny non-touch screen with a proprietary OS with no details on application support. No thanks.

They just ruined the whole idea......if u do a litle research and check the old reports on modu it had camera jackets better than standard cameras....music jackets better than any ipod...and fashon jackets beter than any of the curent fashon phones.....but for some reason all those good jackets got replaced with this worthless crap... They ruined the price too...it would have been 150 euros but it would come with 2 jackets of ur choice...and lets face it few people need ALL functions in a mobile phone... and when ur 1000 euro monster phone becomes outdated what do u do?? get a new one for 1000 euros!! well not here...here u buy a better jacket for 50 euros...if ur music is good and camera is outdated u will buy just the camera...plane and simple..as i said a beautiful concept ruined....lets hope modu 2 will repair the damage..

[deleted post]Another idiot this is not a phone to compete with iphone not all manufacturers want to compete with the iphone and this targets a different market not multimedia power hungry smartphones (well thats if iphone really is a smartphone) and by the release of the faulty iphone 4 with so many hardware issues that apple fail to admit and try to hide i doubt if iphone qualifies to be among the best maybe in the past it was surely the phone everyone wished to have but nowadays there are far many better devices out there

[deleted post]This is weird seeing nokia fanboys comparing their so called n8 with this mobile phone these are two different mobile phones and targets a completely different market n8 is a multimedia smartphone and this phone is just for those who need simple basic functionality from a mobile phone. Try comparing the sells of your nokia n8 with devices like apple's iphone 4(1.7 million units in just 3 days despite your constant bashing blah blah) Or compare it to samsung's wave which has sold 1 million units and it runs on a new os bada which makes your symbian^3 look really old school and its really fast and from what i heard its hardware beats the sony's psp in gaming capabilities and not to mention its super amoled screen and there are many other devices like the samsung galaxy, htc desire to mention a few. The selling point of n8 will be its powerfull camera (imaging capabilities) so did the n86 and it hardly made any impressive sales record . There is an article in engadget thats showing how symbian is declining and if the n8's ui fails to live up to expectations then this could mark the downfall of nokia's symbian

Finally a manufacturer doing something different and refreshing!! Not just on the touchscreen bandwagon!! I like it!! As for the non expandable memory Iphones dont have expandable memory and when it comes to adding music on to them, its memory is already eaten up by applications and games so forth. So really your not getting all the 32gb of storage for your music probably 20gb if your lucky!! Im sticking to expandable memory its the way to go and you can use phone memory to store the programs etc etc and the card for music!!!!

grear concept......it might be the most functionality minded fashion phone out there. I know it isnt a pure fashion phone, but lets face it, a n79 with a 8gb card sports tracker intalled, can kick this things ass back to paris, where this belongs. If the jackets added functions that couldnt possibly fit in a single phone, than it would be understandable. Like a 4 row hardware qwerty for office and a 8 megs uber camera for holidays, maybe a jumbo screen, fully voice operated gps doc for car , stuff like that. Great concept though.

too little too late. kids today will buy touch screen LG Cookies where they get quite a lot of functionality, for 20 times less than the cost of an iPhone. If the Modu acted like a combination Sim card and memory card, that took your whole online life and contacts with you to a new device, then we would be talking.
