India is best place for any foreign company to make profit.. No tax for manufactured in India, less Labour charge. Total manufacturing cost will be reduced. Can make more profit.. As simple as that.. I don't think made in India iPhone will cost less. And quality will not be cheaper like some people are saying here..

Nowhere does it say Foxconn will move production away from China, the plant could however supplement production.
And Foxconn is Taiwanese. They can do as they please and move their manufacturing wherever they want.

However it is good for indian economy that apple is starting made in india products more people in india will get employment but the product itself does not justify the price ( not compitative camera, screen, all iphones have very big bezels,restricted OS etc) and this is also true from a very long time so apple really needs to do something abt the overall features they offer in there flagship smartphones and other products compaired to other top dog flagship smartphones and other products in the market.they cant just rely on i sh eeps to sell there phones .

Doesn't matter where its manufactured, it'll be manufactured according to the specifications of Apple and up to the standard thats accepted by Apple, if not Apple bud not approve it for sales
Apple would not ruin their own best selling product by leaving it in the hands of amateurs who does not know what they are doing.....
