But yes, it is quite a large device and as far as I know devices with screen sizes larger than 7" are called tablets.

They are not fanboys to operate on a loss so nope you are mistaken. This phone from Xiaomi can seriously undercut Samsung's offerings because Samsung has gotten greedy with the blatant overpricing on their mid-range phones.

Z ultra was launched @47000 but soon when it didn't get any response from market Sony sell it for very low.in 17999,one of my friends had buy it.
I don't have any problem with anyone. I am just saying 6.44" size phone can't called a smartphone. Its a Tablet with mobile features.

Compare it to the smallest 7" tablet and it's quite reasonable. Compare it to a 5.5" phone and it's pretty big.
OTOH I've seen people using 7" tablets as phones and they looked ridiculous. Using this is less ridiculous.

If you remember, the Xperia Z Ultra had launched for roughly 47,000 INR (~$700) and the Mi MAX is launched at roughly 15k rupees (~ $230). At least for me 30k is a lot of money and can definitely influence my decision.
Just chill out man, let people who want a big phone buy this, there are many options for people who want small phones, no need to hate.

This is great for multimedia and gaming. My only worry is how much more vulnerable is this against bending compared to the shorter mi 5
