bricked, 16 Jul 2010Brian Marshall, managing director of Gleacher & Company... moreBut unlike the Iphone problem, the N97's was quickly resolved in successive batches and older ones could be resolved relevantly cheaply.
However, you are going about this the wrong way. If the N97 was a dedicated digital camera, this shutter problem is major, but it is only a phone and the camera is just another accessory of the device and not the significant object.
The Iphone however, it wasn't a phone unless held in a special way!

Brian Marshall, managing director of Gleacher & Company, said he did not think the negative headlines hurt Apple in the marketplace though he was pleased to see it take action.
"This has been blown out of proportion and is a media firestorm," he said.
Yes Brian, like I said earlier. Success breeds contempt, and the haters were all too quick to jump onto this (unlike the N97's camera shutter that damaged it's own lens)

Shrek, 16 Jul 2010Agreed they will use Meego(Linux) but the same is not desig... moreNo, they will use Symbian^4..... Where are you getting these lies?
Anyway, if you have ever really experienced Symbian, you will find that under the outdated looking UI, the the OS is much more powerful, open, complex and flexible than Android.
Why would Nokia want to downgrade?

Agreed they will use Meego(Linux) but the same is not designed for simpler handsets , meego handsets will always be hightech so for primary consumers nokia is lookin forward to adapt Android/ windows

N8 and possibly N9 , Last symbian h/s fr... moreWhere to you get that hoax?
Nokia will drop Symbian on in their N-Series.. Most of their other smartphone (X, C, and other models) will still come with Symbian^3 and soon Symbian^4.
The n-series on the other hand will move onto Meego. Yes, a computer OS, much more powerful than any android or WM.
For now you can get a beta for the N900.

Roger Johnson, 16 Jul 2010As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have... moreU.S companies actually call WiMax as 4G... Ha Ha
In Asia Wimax is just a cheaper, slower version of broadband!
Come to Asia to see real 4G.
P.S. How do you go to 4G when you still don't even have 3.5G?

As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have a clue what they are talking about. The US tech media is well known globally for being ignorant about mobile generally – they live in such an insular, inward looking world, and are highly defensive and protective about home-grown technology (Android, iPhone).
The truth is the N8 makes current and rumoured iPhone and Android devices look like over-priced toys. The truth hurts – it hurts Android and iPhone fans, and it hurts US tech blogs who love their home-grown tech. So they slag off and do down non US tech. I’ve seen it lots before. Luckily the US is actually not a very important mobile market at all, only about 8% of world’s mobile users live there. So I think we can live with the US, loud and proud as they are, not appreciating Nokia technology. It’s their loss.

Apple gives free bumpers to all iPhone 4 owners
Customers get a free case and an apology, but no hardware fix
Apple offers free bumpers for iPhone 4 fix

Paul Sakuma / AP
Apple CEO Steve Jobs talks about the Apple iPhone 4 at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., Friday, July 16, 2010.
Today, as expected, Steve Jobs announced that Apple would offer free rubber "bumpers" to anyone who bought an iPhone 4 in order to fix the problem caused by the antenna's design flaw. However, Jobs did not promise a hardware fix which would alleviate the problem without marring the phone's aesthetic.
"We're not perfect," Jobs told reporters. "Phones aren't perfect either," adding, "but we want to make all of our users happy."
The free offer is available through Sept. 30, and a full refund will be issued to those who already bought the $29 case.
"It's very hard to escape the conclusion that there is a problem," Jobs said, "but that problem is affecting a very small percentage of our users."
During the Q&A period following the press conference, Jobs did offer an apology to customers: "To our customers who are affected by the issue, we are deeply sorry," adding, "To those investors who bought the stock and are down by $5, I have no apology."
Apple opened the event with a jab at the media's overreaction to the antenna issue, playing a video of Jonathan Mann's "The iPhone 4 Antenna Song," which includes the lyrics: "If you don't want an iPhone 4 don't buy it. If you bought one and you don't like it, bring it back ... but you know you won't."
Jobs announced that Apple had sold more than 3 million iPhone 4s in three weeks, and that it's been judged the No. 1 smartphone by many publications, including Consumer Reports, who had withheld a

so realistically steve has answered and put it this way,no hardware fix, software can't fix it either,we'll give you a bumper case to cover up the problem.....but the iphone 4 isn't faulty says steve apparently, every other phone is too,all smartphones have been tested and reviewed and all suffer from the antena issue the iphone 4 has

GSMArena should do a signal attenuation test with various devices and compare with the Iphone 4.
That would be a great article....

So Apple obviously made a mistake and he did the best to fix it, why did he have to go against other manufacturers? Really, he was acting just as childish as his fellow Ifans..
He says...."Nokia phones ship with stickers on the back that say "don't touch here"" Which model exactly???
Also, when that reporter he couldn't get the signal to go down in his Bold the way Steve did, Steve really did not have an answer to that!
Strange, the way he missed out checking a Nokia phone for signal attenuation, I mean they are the biggest in the industry and it would have been interesting to see their signal power.
Childish as ever!
