Antennagate ain't over, Samsung and Motorola respond, too

19 July, 2010
After RIM, HTC and Nokia, it was about time for the respond of the rest of the companies affected by Apple's statements last Friday. Well, here is what Samsung and Motorola have to say about the whole shebang...

[deleted post]Is that 5.1, surround sound? If so, why on earth would you need a phone with that?? Thats a very niche feature.

Best camera? 5mp is good enough for any phone. Just think about it. A camera in your phone in NO WAY matches a digital camera of the same MP, and is good only for photos on the fly. If I wanted to take photos with best picture quality I'd use my low cost camera that at least has a big enough lens.

Ultimate gaming device? just LOL. what games are available on the Wave that aren't on the iphone?

Pc experience? What like? The iphone can use the internet and a mobile device will NEVER give the same experience as a PC (Small screen)

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2010Where does it say that all iphones are the worst ever? All ... moreEven according to Apples own unsubstantiated data pertaining to number of complaints, more than 17,000 users are affected by the problem and complained to them(based on the 0.55% figure given by Apple). Regardless of the number of people who bought iPhones, 17k itself is a very large number of people to have a complaint. We don't know how big the real numbers are and we don't have any figures about the number of people who have the problem, but chose not to complain to apple. The Antenna issue is real and anyone who thinks otherwise is clearly delusional.

It seems to me that in the main the average age of an iphone user should be between 14-18, or adults who try to emmulate the Apple big chief - come on guys even Richard Branson knows to dress up some-times.

I find that the majority of arguments flaunted by Apple defenders are childish and without merrit or fact. Simmilar to SJ saying "it's not our fault they started it" (for the Apple fan boys - I know this is not an exact quote but what was said boils down to the same thing seeing as the companies mentioned have been in the phone game longer). I am sorry but that is an extremely immature and unproffesional response to a very serious complaint. Even Donnald Trump would have gone like "What the F*&k! SJ You're Fired!!".

For the fanboys who keep on blaming the media and non iphone 4 users for "creating" this problem, just remeber there is only on place a problem like this can orriginate and the is with the Iphone 4 and its users and testers.

I for one find the apples offering to be not to my liking, even the 3gs was not to my liking. Was considering and Iphone 4, even with this dramatic issue, but after the way Apple and SJ have handled this debacle I would hate to get in touch with their support desk. (This is the impression this situation creates for non Apple users/fanatics)

I can honnestly say that SJ with Friday's press conference inspired me to consider all other options before considering the iphone 4 as a last resort.

I hope the iphone 4 problems get sorted by Apple and that Apple can get arround their aversion to appologies, it is the least they can do for their faithful, loyal customers and zealots.

Why do everyone believe when Apple said only 0.55% returned the iphone4? Does it mean you believe Apple when they say that they give away free covers not because the phone has reception issue but simply because they love their customers. Either believe both or disbelieve both.

There are a few phones that are better on paper and can match the iphones usability. HTC Androids are very much on a par now with iphone, and one or two Samsungs and the Nokia N900.

                All others are inferior.

The haters are the ones that are deluded, pretending that all other phones are better. And don't mention the overblown antenna issue, 99.5% and more of all iphone users can make calls. Your scaremongering has probaby led to more phones being returned than what would have been.

Match up the reviews from respected technology experts that are good vs the ones that are bad, and you'll find that the bad are miniscule.

Iphone 4 screen is crap, their response time is 25ms compare to current screen norm of 2-8ms. Not to mention, compare it with S AMOLED, 0.01ms. so much of saying the screen has surpass any screen available in smartphone,

the reason why the return rate of iphone 4 is low because the owner would rather sell it in ebay or amazon with a higher price due to there is stil many people that would pay to experience a faulty fon and you cant get any it frm apple because its out of stock.

                                  perspective :
                                  1. yes, its a design flaw, in the end not fatal but a flaw causing a weak signal (not always lost signal), so the phone can still be used.
                                  2. yes, it may have been taken out of proportion, but it is a real issue... antenna is almost like gasoline for cars, without it you can't do anything... what the media thought was the iphone4 was just launched and already users complained about the signal, can you imagine what would've happened if more than half of the consumers have this problem ? could be the beginning of the end for apple. so all was in anticipation. apple realized this, thats why they took it seriously albeit handled it in not the best way possible. apple wouldnt bother to have a press conference if itd been something like lack of copy & paste, mms, sms forwarding etc etc...so it was serious.
                                  3. in light of the above, steve jobs (not apple) has become too big an icon, he can't control himself. c'mon man, telling people dont hold your phone this way or that way, apple products are always about how easy for us non-geek consumers to use/operate their products and that's just against what they preach ? more , comparing other smartphones ? that's just lame....

we learn from the past how big companies lost ground for small things be it customer service, late product replenishment, etc etc... heck, even some (many ?) of you dont like apple not because of their fantastic products, but because of their (steve jobs's) big-headedness... go figure...in case you're wondering, i'm a macbook, android, and meamo 5 user...i love good products regarless who make them..
