Its not waterproof under water, but how about using in rain. Surely this is essential for an “action” cam!

I don't under... morebut yi works for xiaomi on similar products. that's why they say xiaomi but actually not just xiaomi but xioami yi . besides that this is valid for many companies. e.g. google maps. actually it is made by google but another company which is bought by google. or deepmind. they say it is google but it just a uk company which is bought by google ;)

I contacted some sellers over ebay, reg availability of this in India....
Well, it will be available in June... that means soon, not too late.

For example, Yicamera costs about 6000-8000 INR, while this 4K model might be around say, Rs. 16000-20000 by the time it gets here.
This is enough to rival some low end DSLRs, (agreed this Yi4K device is capable, but still.)
So, think about it. You can get about 2-3 Yicameras for just one of this.

At the best GoPro is comparable with 2013/2014 top smartphones (better than iphone obviously), but majority of Android flagships had comparable or better cameras back then. As of today, GoPro technology is outdated and quality just above average.

Hopefully they at least set the focus on the lens properly for this model.
Anyway, 4K is great, but I think the trend is on 360 degrees now. Still, hopefully Xiaomi make this available worldwide.

A lot of people here who mention gopro are the ones who know nothing about action cameras. The image and video quality of a gopro camera is only ever comparable to what flagship smartphones from 2011 can offer.

Well, i bought the chinese yi version when it was released. It peformes very good but i really wanted a 4K cam. Now it comes up when i waisted my money. I hope this will be better for €200,-. I hope they will add a kind of protune software.

there should be many brand that make action cam, so every brand will improve their action cam. especially go pro with it battery life
