See this is the thing about the N8. Nokia have announced this phone a good while ago but still have not released the phone. Typical Nokia hype, they make the user wait ages for a device and then the end result is not as good as it should be. But because Nokia fans are so convinced by the fact that Nokia high end devices are great, they will think the N8 is great no matter what. Trust me I used to be a Nokia lover for years, thats until I realised there are much better high end devices.
iPhone haters can say what they want, no matter what the flaws are, the iPhone UI is superb, hence the profits and high numbers of iPhones. Lets see if Nokia can boast about that with the N8!!!!!

John, 22 Jul 2010The reason why Nokia profits is less, is b'coz Nokia actual... moreyour precious nokia is not flawless either
N76= big disappointment and the paint peeling problem
N97= buggy software and after countless updates still not working well
5800= the speaker problem and also buggy software
and last but not least the N8 with symbian^3 and i'm certain it wont receive the symbian^4 update

Appl... moreIs that why Apple made $3.5 Billion ( 2.7€ Billion) profit more than 10 times what Nokia made.
So what was that about worthless marketshare?

The reason why Nokia profits is less, is b'coz Nokia actually loves their customers. Yes Nokia really respects their customers and they have proven this by lowering the price of their smartphones, on the other hand, Apple only claims to love their customers, but in reality Apple like ripping of their customer, left/ right/ centre by overcharging them for their FLAWED IPhone4. Apple only believes in making profits, no matter what happens. I understand that any and every cmapny would be very keen on making profits, by as long as they make profit in an honest way, itz ok, but when they overcharge the innocent people with a huge profit for a flawed stuff, that is where the problem comes in.
Apple & IFans shame on you. Yes Shame on IFans, for being so dumb and trusting each and every word that Mr Jobs quotes. Learn something from Nokia.
Cheers!!

Mark my words 'Nokia N8' is the make or break.. If it does well, then Nokia will survive. There are quite a few good ones to follow.. With in an year, Nokia would catch up with the competition..that is if every thing else stays still
Nokia is not even cheap these days .. Their quality isn't what it used to be. I hear they are shipping almost all products with 'known bugs' acknowledged and unfixed; So the first batch is still in beta and the fist firmware update is the gold release. Their new strategy i think forbids beta release in large markets...
If the touch screen display technology hadn't done that much in the last two or three years, Nokia still would be quite up there still. Barring the display, the Os and processor and ram specs - what is inside a Nokia is pretty much the result of the latest R&D .. Think about class 33 for instance.
If the Senior Management of Nokia really wants, they can really turn the tables and make brand NOKIA the very best.. but alas they seem to be too dull and reactive to say the least.
If i were Nokia corporate management, i would try to chat up with LG and maybe enter in a strategic partnership with one of the Korean giants, not to miss out on the latest display technology(I don't think Samsung wouldn't respond now that they have Apple, but still i hear rumors). Second, i will put a bit of money on OS development, actually i will out-source it cheaply and may be work on reverse compatibility.
Anyways one could only hope..

Ah the good old Nokia days - My personal best Nokia phones were the 8210, 8310, 7270, 6300, 8800 Sirocco. Thats amongst the 15 or so I have used over the years. The crap Nokia phones were the N series ones, the N85 has to be the most complicated Nokia phone I have used. Nokia still make good low and mid range phones, hence their very high sales in this area. No one can deny Nokia make the BEST low to mid range phones. When it comes to Smartphones or high end devices, they simply cannot compete with the iPhone or Android devices. Android also have cheaper devices and much better devices, hence why they sell so well. Nokia fans will disagree, but thats the truth.
Again if Nokia want to dominate in the high end area they need to aim for Android. Its that simple. Otherwise they will just remain the low-mid range kings and nothing else.

It's not the mobile phones getting cheaper issue .. its your stupid nokia politics issue that causes ppl not to buy nokias anymore. When you sell your crap phones, services world wide are avoiding to fix them on a waranty as they were infected with a plaque or something. I've read couple of forums and found out nokia has the biggest jerks hired on their services where they fix phones, but nokia jerks in my country probably win the biggest jerk prize lol seriously i feel sorry for the ones that have even worse ppl employed in their countries..
HTC and other companies are getting high sales and high profits.. nokia is just selling low budget phones coz they're cheap in any way. And yes i'm an ex nokia X6 owner and i rather comunicate with smoke signals than buying another nokia .. 1 month old phone, 3 weeks of which it spent back at the service having it fixed for numerous causes..

Why GSMarena didn't mention about volumes? Nokia sold 112 Million handsets (52% of them were smartphones) during Q2 which is more than combined sales of its biggest two rivals Samsung and Apple in a same period. A point to note, they are selling over 1 million handsets per day. Impressive!

Just fire the CEO already lol. I feel bad for nokia because I used to be hardcore loyal to that company,my first cellphone being a old school green screen candybar nokia then later buying every n series device that came out starting with the n95. Then the iphone and android started coming up and been using both those since. Sorry nokia, you guys haven't made a come back since the nokia n95......maybe a little with the n900 but nothing major. Just fire the CEO and revamp the whole structure of your symbian/meego os and the company as a whole. Or just be lazy and put in an android os in one of your mobile devices like the rest of the phone companies out there excluding apple. Just do something....seriously.

[deleted post]Hi, are you too believe on stupid 1st, 2nd, 3rd ?? BTW Nokia has release only 2 model C5 and C3 on Q2 and they dont have any proper flagship this year until N8 starts shipping. So seeing all these facts, Nokia's situation seems pretty healthy.

not bad, knowing they havent got much new devices for many months now...
they really should of advertised the E series more, E71/E72/E5 are such a treat, i own an E72(and im not a business dude either)
E series would of been a better flag ships.., they beat the N97 any day :).. quality, performance, user experience, etc :)

Meaning Nokia low to mid range phones sales are on the increase. Nokia smartphones, however, dont quite cut it and if there are better (even cheaper) smartphones out there, why buy a Nokia smartphone? Yes need a reshuffle with their smartphones, sticking with Symbian and Maemo is NOT the way forward!

The popular myth for all of 2010 has been that somehow Nokia is losing smartphone market share to Apple. The truth is exactly the opposite. Apple is consistenly losing market share to Nokia. That is now four quarters and counting.|
