Antennagate goes on: it is Samsung's turn to speak

23 July, 2010
The story goes on. Samsung did say something about the Antennagate but their official statement on that matter never showed up. Up until now. Here it is. It just can't get any more official and clear than that! This is a...

Are you putting your hand over the bottom end of the phone? That's where the antenna is, so if you're in a moderate to weak signal area, you can easily drop the signal to zero with your hand. I find I can force my phone to drop down from 3G to GSM completely by putting it next to my head, sometimes.

So much for Apple being the only company having this issue.

Fact is other smartphones might lose a bar or two if you completely cover the entire phone with your hands but your expensive piece of garbage iphone4 that your puppet master Steve Jobs spoonfed to you will drop a call from merely being touched. Apple got served, how does it taste?

well all should buy the phone they desire, but the fact is that Mr. Steve was an ass to this, and he gets what he asked for.I'm not saying ip4 is not a good phone(even that played with it and im not impressed),but since is such a expensive device free cases is not the solution but to replace with a new made device that does not have that problem,Don't know how you people can stand that, you should ask for your rights! that's the thing! it's a damn phone and should keep a call not to drop it!,it's easy as that! so stop accepting Apple bullshit and force them to remake your phone!

Bringing up a fact among all phones is not slander.  Don't be silly.  The media singled out the ip4.  Do you know what that means.  It's like you and 10 other people all did the same error and only you got in trouble for it while the rest are just walking around freely as if they're innocent.  Do you think that's fair?

I agree that the ip4's weak spot is more vulnerable than the rest, but it does not exempt the others from having the same issue.  The media should not single out the ip4.

It is the media that keeps on posting these articles.  Not ip4 users, and not Apple.  It is not fair for anyone to exaggerate on an issue that doesn't hugely affect the users at all. Saying that the ip4 cannot make and receive calls is big lie.

So go ahead return your ip4 immediately :) That is if you really have one, lol.

Even this didn't get the job and then one needed to go into the setting and configure for only 3G operation (a degree of flexibility unavailable to apples mobile phones) disabling the 2G antenna which had been engineered to Not drop calls in the vast majiroty of situations.

This kind of test has zero value other than slandering the competition. the arrogance of such behavior is amazing. This is not a civil suite where you are trying to confuse the jury. Some of your audience understand electromagnetic wave propagation. you can't eliminate them from the jury pool...

The Iphone 4's reception is not like other phones. one is required to not touch the phone with ones skin in certain places if ones signal is weak. no other phone is that sensitive to a simple touch.

we'll stop pointing this out when you stop slandering other manufactures. if you shut up this will blow over. otherwise it will continue.

The issue is not the dropping of signal but that of calls! The Ip4 does drop calls, I know as I have one and I had 2 dropped calls this morning although it has not happened before. I was not death gripping the phone.

Tried this with my Xperia X10 and could not get the signal to drop never mind drop a call. Point is I love both phones, especially since the mini software upgrade to X10 which has improved battery life to a couple of days.

My phones, my choice as I enjoy the variety. BTW, only got dropped calls since the recent IP4 software upgrade to re-calculate the signal bars!!
