how can people say that the lcd on the iphone 4 is better than a super amoled?? yes the iphone4 is an amazing piece of technology..but give credit where its due..the retina display is awesome..but not comparable to a super AMOLED..It beats it on contrast and viewing angles, and slightly on color reproduction as well..but i get confused when it comes to power consumption..are lcds better or amoleds better?

i'm an HTC person, but i've tried the samsung galaxy 9000 and the iPhone 4.
indoors in average lighting i guess the iPhone 4 screen just about beats the Galaxy. outside, or in dark environments there's no comparison. super amoled wins due to the contrast. what's the point of a retinal display if you literally can't see the display?
it's sad news that there is an amoled shortage because it's the best display option around, even from an environmental point of view. the Samsung is so slim, sleak and beautiful but the HTC fanboy in me will note that the case feels a little cheap and plasticky.

X, 28 Jul 2010S-AMOLED simply can't be a winner if you already own an iPh... moreI love the way the i phone 4 users are saying positive things about this new handset. I rank it with the Nokia 1661 for reliability, only costs a fortune more and less reliable! Why not buy a handset for what it does instead of the name on it. Do some research, then you do not have to lie, do not even have to hold it in a camp manner to make/receive a call.

difference between amoled and s lcd is that samsung is the king of screens and they see no need to supply everyone of their competitors with their latest technologies. amoled is better. more efficient, better contrast, better viewing angles.

S-AMOLED is the greatest at the moment.

but I suppose new phones will be cheaper. Second hand prices will rise ... :) I love my amoled HTC desire more now.

why not Super AMOLED, as this display has proved exceptional performance in Galaxy S and Wave.

I still prefer LCD then AMOLED. Some how I felt that AMOlED is too contrasting and does not produce accurate colour. Indeed the brightness level is good and viewing angle is good and consume less power, but i prefer to have a comfortable viewing screen.

AMOLED screens r not always power efficient.
They r efficient in producing dark colours only. If white page or image is opened on a AMOLED screen then it consumes 3 times more battery power than a LCD screen.

Sony is having low shares in S-LCD bcoz sony is gonna pull itself out of this joint venture as from 2011 sony will work in collaboration with sharp.
Sony will no more work with its biggest rival as it said in a press conference.
