Upcoming Moto Z will have MotoMod modular case accessories

26 May, 2016
Each case has a distinct function - there's one with an extra battery inside, another for better sound, and the last is camera-oriented.

Sd 808? Is it a typo?

But if it's correct, price should be less than 25000rs. One can get an mi5 or op3 for 25000. Or otherwise, it should be ip rated like "G". Then 25000rs would be justified.

Many will argue sd 808 is good and blah blah, but just shut up. How it is possible that one year later we have the same chipset? (moto x style had the same)

Sd808 have very bad efficiency, it was justifiable because of sd810. But in 2016, no no no.

Apple, xiaomi previously, moto x, g, e, etc. Messed up lineup is always bad, ex :htc, xiaomi lately, lenovo etc.

Snapdragon 808 in a flagship device in 2016? I hope that's a typo...I mean...yeah, it's still a good one, but if it's a flagship oriented device, I expect to see the newest one which is 820. We'll see..

PS: Just use 650/652, that's gonna run better using latest tech...and yeah, it's proven that it works better than 808, 810 in different areas.

Keeping the same capable chip and upgrading other flaws would also count as a viable upgrade. If - for example - a phone has better optimised software, a bigger battery, a better screen and a better camera but the same chip would that not be classed as an upgrade worthy of a successor? Or does a successor have to be completely new? If so, Sony weren't paying attention their Z3+(Z4) and the Z5 have the same chip.
I do see your point but I can't agree that a successor has to have a different chipset when there are so many other areas that can be upgraded and improved upon.

              Droid turbo3 will be SD823

If Moto X Style successor would have the same 808 SoC, Lenovo might as well NOT release another phone in the name of a successor, isn't it? My guess is - the higher end model with QHD display would get SD 820. The X Play successor would get either SD 625 or 808. Just my view on this.

Making a better camera or battery would not have been a wise choice, not everyone wants to pay extra for a camera they'll never use. This gives people a choice. One thing that seems to be lacking in today's phones. The extra battery would've been good - like in every other phone out today, apart from the Oukitel 10000.
Moto have always been about giving the consumer as many options as they can. Their MotoMaker has come a long way since it started and this is the next logical step.

SD 820 is very expensive, SD 810 had heating problems (Sony addressed the heating issue, but that needs a lot of effort) and the next best in SD line is 808 chipset.

*sigh. Moto had a great lineup. X for flagship, G for mid range, and E for value. Simple and clear. Seems like with Lenovo on board, it is heading to the typical mess of an OEM, adding more models that confuse the lineup.

What's wrong with the simple X, G, and E lineup? They have been established, and easy for consumers.

It's the same chip in the LG Nexus 5X, LG G4, Moto X Style/Pure, LG V10 and many more. It doesn't overheat like the 810. Doesn't cost as much as the 820 whilst also providing more than enough power for everyday heavy use. The 820 doesn't get used to it's limit as it is so having a less powerful chip at a lower cost makes plenty of sense. It will help keep the price down, which is what Lenovo (and Motorola previously) has always aimed for whilst providing enough performance to cover any task you can throw at it. People get too hooked up on benchmarks and Antutu scores. None of which provide accurate everyday-usage figures.

I really like the idea of these cases and it will be a good addition to the MotoMaker system. Hopefully more options will be released in the near future to go along with these. It's very similar to nexpaq's idea (check it out) which is a good interim setup until a full modular phone becomes an option.
