Apple uses its own custom designed PCI-E controllers. Hence the iPhone 6S/6S Plus/SE's impressive read and write speeds.

Android for example is being bottlenecked by the JVM and the way it interacts with the hardware. That said it would probably help with bootup time and this should help drive the price of smaller ssd sizes or more manufactures may start bringing these on board.

With the density like this next Samsung SSD should be like 4 - 16TB (considering majority of SSD today have between 8 - 32 chips). The only question is the price... Will that become cheaper than normal HDDs at some point soon?

Still plenty fast.Samsung, and now others, are using UFS 2.x which is faster than EMMC already and announced a 256 GB variant earlier this year which has caused rumours of the Note 6 coming with 256 GB of internal fast storage. My question is when are these speeds going to make it to external sotrage cards? SD cards are really starting to look a bit dated by comparison now.

Samsung installs Samsung Exynos chipsets into Samsung Galaxy phones, which means they could incorporate Samsung SSDs into it as well as create SSDs with proper power management. They are already pushing Samsung Camera technologies into Samsung Smartphones, what stops them from pushing Samsung SSDs into it? Power management issues? Samsung R&D could help.
All I'm saying is: if you don't WANT to put SSD into a phone, you'll never put it into a phone. Limitations are lame excuses - 10 years ago we couldn't dream of DSLR quality camera in a phone. We have those today - phone cameras that are as good as 10-year-old DSLRs. SSDs should be in phones already.

Just one question: why doesn't Samsung use these chips in their own Samsung Galaxy lineup of phones? That would totally destroy any competition.
What I mean:
Booting up - 10 times faster. Loading any app - 10 times faster. Transfer between PC and smartphone using cable - lightning fast (since you also happen to have SSD in your PC as well, right?). And faster booting and loading times in smartphones would also require less power during that procedure. Win-win, except it would drive the smartphone price up (or lower sales margin). But if you ask me, its totally worth it. Smartphone memory is slow, they should totally start putting SSDs into phones.
