New update brings back Stamina Mode for the Xperia Z5 family

Android already has doze mode and it works just fine. It's annoying that OEMs keep messing with this stuff since they inevitably breaks things like notifications. If you're ever wondering why you completely stop getting important notifications on your device sometimes, look no further.
This led to so many complaints in the past that Google mandated that OEMs would not be able to screw up doze mode in Android 6.0: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/10/19/google-will-require-oems-to-include-unmodified-doze-mode-in-android-6-0/. So how does Sony expect to get away with it this time?

Once again, Sony disregards Android's policies governing low power modes and causing yet more headaches and bug test cases for developers within an already fragmented system of devices!

AnonD-546427, 08 Jun 2016The update is quite fine, the operations are quite smooth, ... moreI would like to correct myself on my previous reference on ULTRA STAMINA MODE being a saviour, the phone depletes energy faster then it did in the lollipop version, on an average of every 4 minutes i am losing 1% energy in ULTRA STAMINA MODE. The new update is a let down as all the other people found it to be. I am a sony fanatic, but not for long if they keep this up. Sony line of smartphone has one of the best quality hardware (everyone has to agree on it, because they know that is the truth), but it is a major letdown when it come to software.

The New Update has brought the stamina mode in the Z3+ too
this was the most desired update since the even of the phone, STAMINA mode really saves my phones battery when I am on long drives ...

I was also very dissapointed when I saw the new Stamina Mode on Marshmallow. It actually is the old "battery saver" with the glitchy feel to it and not Stamina Mode like it was on Lollipop. The battery of my Z5 is really a mess, i only get 2.5 - 3 hours Screen-on Time which is very disappointing when they claim 2 days of battery on a single Charge. However, I hope they will give us the old Stamina Mode with the plus next to the battery back in a future update.

The update is quite fine, the operations are quite smooth, but the fingerprint sensor is still dead though. I called Sony's customer care regarding this for which i was advised to visit the nearest service centre. When i tried to understand what is it that they will do with the phone to get the issue fixed, the customer care representative was like "sorry sir we do not have much information on that". I checked out the reviews for the reputation of the service centres, it was so bad i have decided to live without a fingerprint sensor. Sony should concentrate more on its customer services to keep their loyal customers like me coming back to them for future products. Sorry got side tracked, on the bright side thank god
Sony you have listened to the your users and brought back the Stamina mode. I am falling in love with it again my, Z5 dual is still going strong with 10% for nearly a day now in Ultra Stamina mode with minimum usage.

really the best phone ever period, also gsmarena ratings were not fair IMO, the camera is outstanding in sun light and average lightning too, 4k recording is far from disappointing shootting over 20 minutes in 4k without a single warning or over heating issue (and NOT while on stamina) the CPU is very powerful and the experience is glitch free (really can't recall any glitches so far!...) and the alleged over heating thingy is nonsense since sony has designed special THICK heat spreaders to handle the heat better than some other phones, needless to say the really top notch octa core CPU does gets slightly warm under severe task execution (software update, download huge package from the internet) and notably warm in gaming, but that's at the top area of the phone near the camera, and that's something i dont complain, finally the stamina mode, and even without, is great addition, as it reduce processing power (no where near notable in terms of performance) and hence makes the phone run for LONG, cool and less charges per day !...

But blatant scam of renaming battery saver to STAMINA isn't what I've expected from Sony.

The ultra stamina mode gives you a crazy amount of battery life in case of emergency when you can't charge your phone for some reasons,test it and you will know

To me the real value was the secondary feature of Ultra Stamina mode. In my life I've had situations where I couldn't recharge my phone for days. The ultra stamina was a godsend as it could keep the basic functions of the phone active for more than a week on single charge. To me that was incredibly useful and it was lost when stamina went away. I'm glad is now back.
