AadiRizvi, 03 Jun 2016Dude i guess you ARE a troll as we see clearly you dont eve... moreHoly shit you're dumb.

> i have been a user of this feature since 2013 with SP and just replaced it two months back with the Z5.

Cool. So you used STAMINA on L. Congratulations so did I. The topic here is that Marshmallow doesn't include it anymore. K ?

> And Doze, dude, that feature is not for users to turn on/off/amend but its a builtin optimizer which turns off apps or minimize them when the phone goes into standby mode for a long time which results in longer battery life (which other OEM users are claiming) but as a Sony user, i find Doze's optimization very poor if one compares it with STAMINA Mode's apps optimization.

Cool, that's where we agree. STAMINA in L > Doze.

At this point you didn't say anything of value yet, or posted a proof that my claim that STAMINA in M is rebranded battery saver. 0, zero, nada.

Here's another nutcracker: when you enable "STAMINA" in Sonys M, there is no + on the battery icon no more (as it was in Lollipop which you know, since you used that on SP and Z5 both on L).

It's now a sticky notification when "STAMINA" is enabled. Just as as with battery saver.

Stop writing some bogus claims how all in all worked before and who is informed of what. The topic is fucking new Sonys Z5 firmware update with supposed STAMINA, which I'm claiming and have already proved it doesn't behave anything as it did in L.

So now I'm awaiting for your arguments to show that STAMINA does behave the same as in L.

md, 03 Jun 2016Before calling me a troll let me explain you how it worked ... moreDude i guess you ARE a troll as we see clearly you dont even know how the STAMINA Mode works, i believe you just know the name of Battery Saver from L because you just saw it on Youtube maybe but let me tell you i have been a user of this feature since 2013 with SP and just replaced it two months back with the Z5.
P.S. If only you have used one, you might have got some knowledge of how it works. Plus the Battery Saver in Marshmallow which is given for users to turn it off or on at 15% does the same thing with apps but still it fails to give all of the operations including 4G data. It automatically turns off my 4G data connection after 10% and if no WiFi is available, i cannot use any internet services. Thats Battery Saver for you, and it is not STAMINA. Now go resume drinking shit from your Coca Cola's bottle.

Dpx, 02 Jun 2016You do know that the Sony stamina mode existed even before ... moreYeah I do know, which is sad because Google forced they half-assed Doze as it is in M and battery saver in L.

In Sony Lollipop Stamina co-existed with battery saver from Google. Now Doze took over what Stamina was doing before (but Doze kicks in with delay) and Sony just rebranded the battery saver to Stamina.

Because it works and it's set. The same. As battery saver. In Lollipop.

Flash the fucking update and see it for yourself.

If you turn "Stamina" in M on, it will just disable everything you check. This means it will disable it until it's turned off again or the battery level rises above set % (unless you set it to always on). Meaning it won't turn on those things when you power on the screen as it was with Stamina in L.

AadiRizvi, 03 Jun 2016Well you can add/remove apps you want to minimize and they ... moreBefore calling me a troll let me explain you how it worked before and how it's branded now.

Before it turned off Wifi and mobile internet while still letting through notifications for white listed apps. It also queued syncing jobs so it wouldn't wake the device so much. That was called extended standby in L.

Now you can select battery % where "Stamina" kicks in. You can then choose in the list what do you want to turn off. This is the SAME as battery saver introduced in L.

Whitelist for apps is where the Doze Settings are - hence Doze being the main actor here, not Stamina.

Maybe you'd drink shit, if it said Coca-cola on the bottle, but I don't blindly take anything that's written by PR people until I've studied how it works.

Great! I hope it will get me four to five days before charging again, like it used to on my Z2 with Stamina mode. My Z5 Premium Dual only last two days at the moment without the Stamina mode...

Google's Doze is nowere near as effective as Stamina mode. It drains the battery 5% overnight even without any connection turned on. Stamina on the other hand drain the battery only 1% overnight with Wi-Fi and data still on.
Not to mention how more effective Stamina is during the day when you not using your phone. Doze keep draining the battery in a linear way while Stamina preserve the power when not using your phone.
Not even comparable. Great stuff by Sony.

Having used both Sony and Samsung too, I can say that Sony's Stamina Mode actually works. Perhaps due to the fact no background data(unless you make exceptions for certain apps.) actually goes on when the screen is off. Currently on the S7, and I kind of miss it. The closest thing in the Sammy is perhaps the option to disable notifications for an app, once and for all. But not sure if that actually turns off the background data for that particular app as well.

md, 02 Jun 2016No it doesn't. They renamed the existing battery saver mode... moreWell you can add/remove apps you want to minimize and they do not notify anything if the phone remains in standby for a long time (well this has been active since 2013 on Xperias). Its just that, its back now because who is a genuine Xperia user here (and not a troll) will tell you how badly we wanted it back because of how greatly it works.

papercut, 03 Jun 2016Yeah you're right they just renamed it. Ultra Stamina Mo... moreLMAO Sammy fanboys are crying about the name, check performance first man and then tell me which phone has got more STAMINA? ;)

having used both sony and samsung, sony has been giving stamina mode long before, and it also gives custom modes rather than just 2 saving and ultra saving modes

Google probably disallowed Sony to bring this back because they hate Sony

Waiting also for that update for my Z3 Compact, since the update to 6.0.1 the battery life suffers and the google battery saver is worthless.
Stamina Mode worked perfectly and do not get the point in removing it.
Hope this update will also fix some bugs, like Tethering and streaming bluetooth at the same time.
