John, 04 Aug 2010'It was high time some good news involving the iPhone 4 sur... moreAnd you seem to be the chief iphone hater on here, bleating on about yesterdays news. I doubt very much you even have a Wildfire.

But then again, if you want more coverage for Apple, I'm sure they won't mind as it is clearly not affecting sales.

The very much anticipated Ultrasn0w carrier unlock is now available for the iPhone 4.---Nice!!! So great and fast, Cydia are doing the work after jailbreakme release without a stop!
Hmm, for those 3GS unlock, ifunia gives some more insight, just turn to this "Unlock iPhone 3GS Baseband on iOS 4 with UltraSn0w" in ifunia iPhone column.

John, Australia, 05 Aug 2010Yes, please do not mention the antenna problem as I am sick... moreIm not trying to bash the IP4 here but id never get one myself, because unlike John im in a reception blackspot in Australia and regardless of phone or carrier im lucky to get 1 3G bar (which always drops out) or 2 GSM bars so the IP4 reception issue would make it worse than it already is

I just have unlocked my iPhone 4 successfully. Tested it with a 3 SIM card, though I had to cut the 3 SIM into a microSIM card but everything worked out perfectly. That's great! Oh, I'm a Vodafone customer.

Yes, please do not mention the antenna problem as I am sick of reading about it - thankfully we do not have this issue in Oz.

karim, 04 Aug 2010why do apple consider to lock their products? they shouldnt... moreApple doesn't lock their phones! just untill recently in North America you could only get an Iphone through your carrier at a reduced price as long as you signed a contract with them. Apple had certain contracts with wireless providers and thus those providers placed the lock on the phone to only work with thier SIM cards.

since June 2010 apple now sells unlocked iPhones (at full price) unlocked. so you are free to chose which wireless provider you want to use. but you are stuck paying $800 or $900 for a phone!!! or you can get one from a provider much cheaper by signing a 2 or 3 year contract. its up to you!!

'It was high time some good news involving the iPhone 4 surfaced. Luckily, this time we're not going to talk about antennas, reception issues or anything like that.'

Why should we not speak about antennas as that is a major flaw in the IPhone 4 and the whole World will continue to speak about it.

I recently got the HTC Wildfire. Oh My GOD!!, what a phone, I tell you. An IPhone killer. Seriously, if you dont believe my words, go check it out for yourself.

My primary phone still however remains Nokia & badly waiting for the Nokia N8. Go ahead and dump the freaking/ flawed/ dumb/ IPhone 4 and get the Nokia N8. Even Steve Jobs has pre-ordered the N8.

                    Cheers!!

Just wanted to say as a O2 UK Iphone user, I have had Iphone for nearly a year. O2 offer a free service to contract customers, whereby they will unlock your Iphone officially. It takes 2 weeks and u recieve a text saying put another network sim and sync with itunes and its unlocked for good. Try it.

The latest version of the ultrasn0w, ver. 1.0-1, manages to break the chains of not only iPhone 3G and 3GS (basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04) but also of iPhone 4 (baseband 01.59.00). Keep in mind that you have to jailbreak your phone first in order to be able to proceed to step 2, the unlock.

So, head for Cydia, type ultrasn0w (if needed, add the repo: repo666.ultrasn0w.com) and once the download is complete, start the application and let your iPhone work with any microSIM card out there.
