Heheheh it isn't overpriced.... here in Brazil everything is overpriced because of taxes and those crap.... it has the same price of the N97 on launch here if we want to buy high-end celphones or computer with reasonable prices must buy it in other countries and pray to don't get caught and be forced to pay very high taxes....

It's overpriced, but contracts with operators here are not cheap either, Brazil have one of the most expensive prices for cellphone/internet contracts in the world.
It's a sad place for those who like technology.

People here down in Brazil that can buy a phone at this price, have contacts that will enable them to bring from outside this phone at a much better price. At the price of
499,00 for the I9000 and the N8 will bring the discussion to the operating system.
digital TV here is in only 36 cities so the antena will not be a plus There are some state capitals that stil dont have digital TV.

It might be a joke. There is no TV image on the screen.
However that might be a nice idea, although you will not find many free(and interesting) to air TV channels.
What I would like more would be a FM trasmitter so that the navigation voice could be played on the car speakers.

No in Brazil the Brazilian operators might actually sell it for that price and say it is subsided! All of the mobile phones in Brazil are overpriced, just like everything else!

samsung has to realise that at the price of this much there are so many other phones to look out for, galaxy has just a 5mp camera and that too without a flash.only limited personalization.not so good phone at such a high price.only 512mb ram and 1ghz processor looks good!

But we Germans can't get an iPhone without an very expensive contact for example...But have the luck to be able to buy in UK somehow.

Yes, it's really overpriced...
I can find in Brasil the HTC HD2 or Nexus one for R$1400 (1000 less!!). Of course, unofficially launched here.
I think I'll need to wait 1 year to buy it, as I did with the first omnia.

First :
1 - Samsung cant be blamed . We (brazilians) have do blame the importing taxes . They made the prices go sky high in my country.
2 - Samsung will release a 2.2 Froyo for this baby ? In September? I doubt it , strongly !!!! The brazilian Galaxy has tv , so it demands a specific firmware . I can bet that only "open" devices will have this new froyo firm. The custom operators they wont upgrade. Maybe operator Vivo given its new policy for upgrades.
3 - Even with taxes and others fees Samsung could make it more affordable a little bit. Anyway, No one comments here that this price is for those who pay the mobile in 12x (monthly). If we decide to pay in cash we have the usual 10% discount.
4 - Of course, its a release price . It will surely drops down in September or before the year's end .
