Win10-powered HP Elite x3 spotted with fingerprint scanner

04 June, 2016
If you recall, the units shown off at this year's MWC didn't have the fingerprint hardware.

There seems to be some exaggerations and made up statements here:

1. Windows 10 is beta - No. But you are free to join the beta-program if you want to. The stable version of Windows 10 is just as good and fast as any other system on similar hardware (often faster).
2. No apps - There are more than 600.000 apps. 99% of the services also have great replacement apps that are BETTER than the first-party apps on other platforms.
3. Slow and buggy - Read #1.
4. Disappointment - Windows has had the highest mobile satisfaction rates of all platforms during a couple of years.
5. Microsoft locks you in/not open - Google is the new Microsoft of the 90s. Look at Android Wear. It is locked in to Google, Chromecast? Locked in to Google. Youtube? Where Google wants it. Maps? Where Google wants it. Microsoft is available on ALL platforms everywhere.

Get your facts straight.

Anonymous, 04 Jun 2016I use Lumia 540 with window 8.1 which is better than google... moreI was lumia 540. Now I retired it. Since 3 months I buy it, I feel something wrong with this phone. I tried to use, then after 11 months I give up to use it. Running apps so slowly. People say smooth, I say slowly. After update become worse, so so so slowly. Apps I used for works doesnt have. Also basic phone dissaponted. Now I switch back to android. Im very happy after switch back to android. Apps running so fast. Before lumia 540, I use lenovo S650. Compare to lumia, lenovo S650 very much better. Apps running fast, never facing lag. I switch to lumia because want to tried with bigger name Microsoft. But what I get is dissapointed, wasting my money. Cannot sell, no ones want to buy. Explore your WP before comment. Market talking.

krystian, 04 Jun 2016The reason shares fell because MS pulled back. They don't ... moreI agree Win10 has potential. Problem is it's still beta, and it a left bitter taste to people who have used it. Even more to someone who have used WP7 and WP8 before.

As developer, I found UWP API in Win10 is still a mess, documentation a mess, unstable emulator, even a year after launch. I found WP8 is still better in terms of documentation and development environment.

I use Lumia 540 with window 8.1 which is better than google chrome os. Try it before you comment, most people who think window phone is bad are those who think they can use windows like Android. I don't blame after all they can have cheap copy of Android app transferred to them through the use of flash share. Android guy try and buy apps stop looking for free apps

I hope it gets the SD 820 or 823 SOC. SD 810 is outdated.

AnonD-90109, 04 Jun 2016WP is DEAD, no one cares, the rest of the world has moved o... moreThe reason shares fell because MS pulled back. They don't want to be associated with the Lumia line. They want to let OEMs take over. If you actually used windows 10 for a bit you would realize how much potential there is. It's not really finished nor does it have all the features MS envisions. MS just makes the premium line to showcase what windows 10 can do and then wants the OEMs to get on board. Spring 2017 when windows 10 is truly finished with Redstone 2 they will release some sort of product to showcase the software/hardware power. This is what will drive OEMs to do something similar. It's the equivalent of what they do with their surface line.

I'm not biased. I have an iphone 6, asus zenfone 2 and lumia 950xl. I would put windows 10 before all those if you're talking OS only. Apps I would choose my iphone 6.

Runner up for OS would likely be android marshmallow as ios kind of went downhill when it hit 9.x.

Anyways, no bias here as I like to play with all things. I think Windows 10 mobile has the most potential. Funny part is that even though market share has dropped like crazy there's more and more apps coming. And this is thanks to UWP.

Some apps are even better for w10m. I think Twitter app is much better than the android/ios one. Facebook sucks unfrotunately but there hasn't been an official one released yet. Messenger is still in beta. It's getting there though.

Finally, the flagship level pocket PC that all we nobody fans have been waiting for. No longer will there be a need to be bilingual. Our work, home, and portable computers will speak the same language! The X3 also features top of the line Bang&Olafsen audiophile sound, not the tinny speaker Samsung offers up. No phone generates the kind of attention I get when I pull out my Nokia 1520. Someone always says, "How did you do that?". I am excited. WINDOWS PHONE LIVES!

Their biggest shot was a deal with Nokia, and the F'd it up big time. This will be another Windows phone - it'll come out, few people will say "Oh?", and then it'll disappear completely forgotten. Shame, because hardware can be great, but without software support, there's not much to go about.
