Sony Xperia X Performance will in fact make it to the UK in mid-July priced at £549

09 June, 2016
Sony won't be selling it directly, but some of its retail partners will be offering the flagship smartphone after all.

Do you think it will be worth it ? How about its new fast sensor without having OIS ? Hope you don't mind the questions and thanks in advance !

Jumbo, 10 Jun 2016..But only and exclusively because of the SD810. Which is h... moreYes because all versions of the 810 have those issues like I said. However I think Sony's design language served to exasperate those issues, the nexus 6p for instance doesn't seem to suffer as bad as the Z5 series.

So Sony might have to settle with a little of the blame (but yes the majority of it can of course go to Qualcomm).

Gonna have to agree to disagree with you on this "So claims that by its nature of being an Xperia, it will likely suffer from overheating, are 100% without basis." as I think there have been such issues to varying degree's going back several generation of Xperia now.

I'm from the UK, a country not known for its Sunny climate I think you'll agree, yet there are plenty of counts of UK based Xperia users complaining about these thermal issues.

But I will agree with you to some degree on this, the is little reason to expect the X-P to suffer from these issues (I don't think it can be entirely ruled out).

Which is hardly Sony's fault, other than the fact that they chose to use it after the issues everyone else had. So claims that by its nature of being an Xperia, it will likely suffer from overheating, are 100% without basis. You could basically say the same about every model of phone sold in Dubai, since I'm sure their phones heat up allll the time just because they're out in hot weather.

Now the X-p is coming with 820. There is ---no--- reason to think that it will have any heating issues whatsoever, just like all the other SD820 phones that have been released and tested thus far.

Jumbo, 10 Jun 2016The original SD810, yes. THough that was everyone's problem... morePretty much all versions of the 810 had some degree of issue with thermal management.

Sony's solution was to throw in a pair of Heatpipes, but as Anandtech put it: "having a heat-pipe thermal dissipation system is a quite worrying characteristic of the phone and should in no way be seen as a positive feature"

Now that quote is Anandtech referring to the S7's use of a heatpipe, however it doesn't paint a very flattering picture of the state of the 810 when it came time for Sony to put it into the Z5 now does it, considering they saw the need to include two of the things.

And I wouldn't say hysterical is the correct term to apply to the accusation made by many that 'Sony's always overheat' either (especially when talking of the Z5 series), is it an entirely accurate assessment?......no, but where there's smoke there's fire, and Xperia's do have a rather poor reputation where thermal properties are concerned.

Jumbo, 10 Jun 2016The original SD810, yes. THough that was everyone's problem... moreNot really. The z3 had some overheating problems, the z5 which dealt with the snapdragon810 had overheating problems too. And this is more so than other phones that used the sd810. Its presumably because they don't use ois and rely on a lot software to make their camera work.

Although these problems don't seem to be experienced by all users, its difficult to see why some people experience it and others don't.

Ironically because of their slow production line they were the ones best-placed to avoid the whole issue by dealing with it before releasing the Z3+, since they had all that time to learn about the problems others were having. But of course they had to plunge in and even end up with the worst of the blame for it. That's actually the point I started to get worried about what Sony were doing.

I've heard --very-- few substantiated reports of Xperia devices since then having any problem at all. Just random shouts of "Sonys always overheat" from various corners. Seems a bit hysterical, if you ask me.

Can't disagree with you on the camera sensor / processing front, though. You'd think they'd realise their flaw and team up with someone with good processing and give them a bit of a deal on the sensors in exchange for some tips on how to actually use them.. :p

Should sell in entire Europe not only in UK and Gemany in some retailers. What hell of strategy is what Sony has to the global market? Like this it become worse and then is when they sell much less. That is because their mobile division is entering in bankruptcy, because they don't stand and don't get to compete against Samsung because they haven't no chances.

It doesn't really compare to the flaws, except for a really, really small minority. Same way I didn't even bring up lack of wireless charging, lack of ip68 in warrantee, lack of game tuner app that allows you to change resolution, etc. The list goes on and on when you start desperately clinging to straws.

Overheating means it shuts down and/or stops working because it got toooo hot. It does --NOT-- mean it just got warm. Things can get warm, fine. It's not a problem. It's ONLY a problem if it burns you, or if something breaks or gives up or craps out, whatever. So stop spreading mis-information everywhere. Everything gets warm. Maybe Sonys get warmer than others. Big F'n deal. As long as it still does its job without complaining it's not even relevant.
So quit with the "Overheating", that's almost a blatant lie.
