Excellent news for both "early adopters" and those who didn't get a ps4 yet. For early adopters, they get to buy a more powerful console sooner than the usual console upgrade cycle, and for those who waited, they didn't waste money on the inferior ps4. win win situation in my book

AnonD-130610, 11 Jun 2016Even a Radeon R9 390 get stand before the GPU of PS4.PS4 has AMD GCN 1.0 with 1152 shader cores running at 800 MHz. That's just over 1.8 TFLOPS. Slightly less powerful than R7 370, which has a bit less number of cores, but running at higher frequency and producing 2 TFLOPS.
R9 390 has AMD GCN 1.1 with 2560 shader cores running at 1 GHz. That's a bit over 5.1 TFLOPS. It's nearly 3 times as powerful. PS 4.5 is rumored to have 2304 GCN 1.3 cores, so that is RX 480. By the time of release it would be a midrange.
