Original Samsung Galaxy J5 is now receiving its Marshmallow update

14 June, 2016
So far the rollout seems to only have commenced in India, but it's going to land elsewhere soon undoubtedly.

The original Samsung Galaxy J5 from last year is now finally in the process of receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Sure, at this point Google's almost launched Android N, but nevertheless it's nice to see even low-end offerings like the J5 get some update love from Samsung - late as it may be.

Currently the Marshmallow OTA for the J5 only seems to be going out in India, but surely more territories will follow. The update requires an 874MB download, so make sure you grab it via Wi-Fi. The build number for the new software is J500FXXU1BPF4.

              Hello Samsung J5 Users,
In a sm-J500F owner, and I had been using 6.0.1 after successfully updating it from 5.1.1(2015 version) , then after using it for about a year I got annoyed of the fact that samsung has actually removed the Adoptable Storage feature from the marshmallow version in all their samsung devices, (a little info. about the adoptable storage : with the release of android marshmallow, it has the function to use the SD Card as an internal storage). I even tried to contact the samsung customer care, but no hope. Then , recently I switched back to android 5.1.1 which is much more reliable, it atleast has the feature to move apps to SD card, and you can disable most of the apps like the GALAXY APPS STORE *very annoying. And the lollipop version rom is below 1GB where as the marshmallow is above 1GB i.e 6.0.1>5.1.1. It is better if you stay at the native 5.1.1 or lollipop version.
