It's not always true that Canada will be the last area for any updates to come. AT&T users didn't (and still don't) even have an option of buying a Milestone or HTC Dream, despite the fact that UMTS850/1900 version of Milestone and Dream have been available for quite some time in Canada.

here in Brazil the users of the backflip is very sad with motorola ... MOTOROLA NEVER AGAIN! please motorola software release 2.1 for Brazil!

I understand youre frustration because me too have a X10 and i'm stuck with 1.6 for now.
But considering that money is the key to everything these days, don't forget that Canada is a small market for these companies (SE, Nokia, Samsung, Moto etc, etc).
So i guest we just have to wait and hope for the best.

Thats what I do why wait 6-7 months for that one phone I like before it comes here in Canada and by then a newer updated model is out in the states.

They can't "no update" Latin American Milestone. Just because when they started to sell this phone here (Brazil)they said that it will support flash (for flash we need 2.2). I have a print screen of Motorola site with this statement.
But surely I will never buy a Motorola phone anymore.

this is somehow disappointing. to learn that that milestone in the asian region is still under evaluation. I have been an avid fan of motorola (all my phones are moto) and even if they are no longer in the philippines ordered milestone outside the country knowing that moto will please me with their phone and perks. moto think again please

I really hate all phone carriers in Canada ... We are always last! For everything, Europe and states get the first take ... and then when everyone is upgraded there like ... ok we got everybody ... no no we forget about Canada and then they like ahhh shit well lets just sell an other phone with 2.2 when were goina relese 3.0 .. I'm with S.E i got an X10 they say the upgrade will be for end Q3 or Q4 ... Im sure canada will be ... never ... Damn the carrier and the manifacturers that lisent to them ... we always get the good stuff imported thats it!

It's so sad we who bought a DEXT in Latin America aren't getting Android 2.1, the hardware is almost the same as in the states the biggest difference is in the bands it works... this is my fist Moto device, and the last one...

Well, why the European users are being differentiated , no updates for Dext , its shame that Motorola are accepting the terms of networks intead of its customers

If u want u allways have custom versions of 2.1 soon 2.2 and maybe u can download original 2.1 version from usa-s site for your phone . Everything is possible.

Who care about Backflip in Europe. Backflip and Dext are not that faimous in Europe. Small number of units where sold in Europe, so it is obvious why Motorola decided to not upgrade Backflip and Dext.
Users from US, where Backflip and Cliq are sell much better are receiving the update.
