I heard MS charge a lot for this license. Some companies has rejected to move to WP7.

Oh yes, I don't use iphone (my wife does), and getting everything thru itunes isn't my cup of tea, though I don't doubt the fact iphone itself is easy to use...only one button and one can always "back" and "close" the appplication.

Indeed, the OS I really like is Android. It combines the ease of iphone, yet it can be customized, and supports other stuff like external memory card (so everything does NOT require itune). And now even Samsung is saying goodbye to WM while focusing on Android.

WM reminds me of DOS, while iphone is like Mac (as it should be), and Android is like Windows. For those who used DOS, and for those who can remember all the commands, it maybe fast and can do lots of things. Though in the end GUI proved to be easy for most average users out there.

I do give credit to HTC for offering many handsets with full qwerty keyboard with large screens. Though couple things throw me off from buying any product from that brand:

      - its (used to be) non-standardized mini-USB plug (unlike BB / Motorola)
      - voice quality (can never match that of Motorola), afterall, it's still a PHONE.
      - after sales support where I live is not that good. Before it won't exchange / replace handsets with 5 dead spots on the LCD, now I think is 2. But why being so...if it truly believes in the quality of its products?

The hottest phone running WP7 will be SE Xperia X3 (probably) with excellent hardware and workmanship. Their keyboard and design in general are excellent. With MS taking care of the interface and all, can concentrate on making and selling phones only, as they cant handle all the cells and whistles themselves. So this one is eagerly awaited, with fingers crossed.

Like i wrote before, for example Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and HTC HD2, same WinMo OS but two totally different phones. One is totally worthless and the other one is totally outstanding.

I do agree that WinMo 6.1 was not a good OS unless you got a HTC device like Touch HD, Diamond 2 or Touch Pro. HTC's own coverflow on 6.1 was very good, very simple and all the additional software and language support was there in the retail OS.

I had no problems visiting Cantonese and Mandarin sites on HTC WinMo 6.1 phones as i buy alot stuff from China. It even allowed me to translate the pages.

This might also have to do with HTC being Taiwanese, i don't know if it has any connection to that language thing, only maybe.

Like i said, you wanna use WinMo, get HTC. They not only make great phones but also knows how to intergate different OS the right way.

Look at what HTC did with Android. I know for fact that both Samsung and Sony Ericsson sent engineers to Taiwan to study HTC's Android engineering.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2010Doing thing simply and doing things right way are 2 differe... moreI ain't no professional, nor politicians (but isn't Obama using BB?), though I'm a univerisity graduate (so is my wife) and as mentioned, I owned 2 Windows Mobile phones, and the 2nd one simply made me NEVER return to WM.

Though can you explain why on my WM6.0 Q9 it supported multi-languages menu....just like any other phone. While on my WM6.1 A3100, I had to CHOOSE one language over another? Why I need to (pay) install another browser to make the English version to view Chinese website? Isn't this being one of the simplest and easiest things that should (if not already) standard among ALL other phones and OS?

How about using MP3 as alarm clock? Why need to install another program? And if I remember correctly, turning off the phone doesn't necessary close all the apps.

Maybe for super smart guys like you such is nothing. Though for the "average" people out there, such is really too complicated, and since you're such professional businessman being a politicians, where $ is no object, most others out there have to worry about much other things in the world, like mortgages, credit card payment, friends' activities, and the last thing we want to do is to write our own program for our phones.

I case you haven't noticed in the recent iPhone 4 release, it already killed itself with it's 50 different flaws. No one is buying it anymore and more than half the people who got it returned it already and got a Android. And now we are talking about loyal Apple followers jumping ship to Android.

I really hope there will be a Nokia phone with Windows phone 7. If Nokia's investors can't take it anymore and decide to change the whole management body at once, there is a good chance to this to happen. People are talking about iPhone killer for several years now, but every thinking person knows that this is just a speculation. Nobody can beat iPhone on its own ground - everybody seems to make a close copy of iPhone and then say that this is the next iPhone killer, this is just pathetic. The combination of Nokia and Windows would open the eyes of customers, blinded by Apple's business strategy, and show them what they are really missing in their daily life. This on the other hand would be a turning point in current smartphone marked, which at current direction is not going nowhere good.

Myself i have a Archos IT 5 Android tablet. Android market kinda sucks already although it started out good. Android homescreen is still top class though! Lots of live widgets and real time feed customization, just like Windows and Symbian.

But i still won't be buying Win Ph 7 device until HTC makes one. It still comes down to engineering and intergration with the hardware in the end.

For instance when i was gonna buy my current WinMo phone i first got the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 with WinMo 6.5, it was the slowest, buggiest, non-responsive piece of **** i had ever used, and thought it was the fault of WinMo.

I returned it and got HTC HD2 with WinMo 6.5 just to give the OS another try, and i was blown away! What a wonderful device! The same OS on two different handsets with night and day
                          difference.

I even compared HD2 with my friends iPhone 3GS and the HTC was better and faster at everything.

Microscoft is one of the greatest and the biggest operating system making company at this planet . I am not so old but i heard stories from old people "that from the beginning in 80's MAC is the pioneer in making operating system but due to no competition the MAC is so expansive and not in reach of every one . Then Bill and IBM launched OS2 and break the territory of MAC. From that time and today MAC is Still under the shadow of Microsoft .And we are still expecting Microscft for making there device at affordable prices. The people of this age prefers entertainment over technology. WM6 (windows mobile 6 or 6....) are really great operating systems in mobile series. The main thing is how it is ease to make the apps of the computing device. If you are know little about computer languages you may know about C# & C-basic , I am a C.E.O. of company (microscientists.com) and i personally can make any kind of application when i was 15. By using microscoft's visual studio.
When i involved with other OS like IPHONE,BB,Android,Maemo or Android i see that the application making pro grammes for these OS are sooo difficult and i really appreciate that people or companies who are making apps. for these kind of OS are really great after doing so hard work and writing so many line you can just create a link to link app in these kind of OS.Beside it microsft is really so generous .
I am not writing it to explain badness or hurt the feeling of anyone. if i do so i really apologize. My message to all smart phone making company and there software making developers, i have die hearted request to them please make the apps. making software so easy like Microsoft. And people please don't waste you money on entertainment use your money on technology and knowledge to build this planet Ideal.
                                thank you.

I am really sorry that Bill Gates is out of the game. If he was still in the game Apple and uncle Steve now would be where their place is - at the bottom! I really hope Microsoft still has the capacity to blow them out once again. The fact is that uncle Steve become "hero" of monkeys after Bill retired. Until then he never had a chance to raise his voice.

They said that the new revamped appstore called Marketplace will not be open to all developers. Microsoft will carefully review developers credential and earlier work before they get a Marketplace contract.

Microsoft said they their aim witk Marketplace is to have only have about a thousand high quality programs and "apps".

Peter Wissinger of Microsoft said that it's better to have one thousand extremeley high quality programs or "apps" then have 100 000 of varied shady quality.

Microsoft marketplace is going to aimed at quality, not quantity. It will be extremely hard to get a contract for it as independetn developer. Only the top notch professional developers will be allowes access.

Which means we won't get to seeing 9 year olds sitting at home making ten of thousands of non working fake half breed barely working apps for other 9 year old buyers like on Appstore.

Kudos on the strict strategy, proud to be a Windows user.
