Kierann, 03 Sep 2010When I say apple is easy to use, its because everything is ... moreThere is only one true way for a all humans to keep growing in emotion, character and intelligence...

"Adversity breeds evolution"

If Apple someday leads the global market sales, then the world has gone stupid enough to be one tiny step away from having monkeys and chimps coming out of the jungle to take over the world.

When I say apple is easy to use, its because everything is in a very logical position. An apple rep even said it was designed for the uninitiated in technology. Its simple and clean.

Okay, I'm talking about winmo as an economic thing. Not whether its going to be awesome or great, I'm talking about its survival here. This is pretty much microsoft's last chance at making a windows phone. It's got to compete somewhere which means it's got to have something special about it.

Apple is ridiculously easy to usel

      Android is ultimately customisable.

Symbian is very very resource unintensive meaning its cheap to implement

Blackberry do emails like no other.

So far, winmo doesnt have anything to show that is unique enough to make it an economic success. Whether or not an invididual supports it matters not a jot if the platform shuts down after a year of utter failure, if the application developers abandon it because very few people use it.

Kierann, 03 Sep 2010Why is no-one listening to me? The world doesn't care wh... moreWell,
you're wrong in many aspects, yet, your biggest mistake:
If you think that the world doesn't care what you think, why did you even bother to post your comment?

        Additionally,
the iPhone isn't easy to use, at least not easier to use than my HTC HD2. (As you will see, I am not making any statements if the iPhone is bad ort not - there is a section for that but not in a WM7 discussion!)

Have you ever thought of the following?:
If people wouldn't be too lazy and learn how to use a device (especially computers) properly, we wouldn't have a need to create phone os that can be handled by a 3-year old ... ! Just like car driving, with every technology there is a little bit of learning involved. If a customer expects that a device just has to function without any learning curve, well, then I agree: let him buy an iDevice with limited possibilities and many restrictions. At least that person can't do any harm to the rest of us! :-)

        Have a nice day!

Kierann, 03 Sep 2010Why is no-one listening to me? The world doesn't care wh... moreAnd since when do i care what the world thinks? Do i have to be a horrible trendpuppet like everyone else just because a bunch of wannabes, fruitcakes and 14 year old girls think something is easy to tap and use?

Why don't we all wear blue jeans and be done with it, why have any other colour at all?

Everything in my comment says what i think, not what the world thinks. If you would have a personallity instead of being trying to fit in society slave than you would have no problem to happily use Win Phone as you said.

You can use Win Phone because the is doesn't make money?! What kind of excuse is that. Hos does that affect your private prefference of use in any way? I use alot of things that isn't made by multi billion dollar making companies. How is the company making money evene relevant to what you like or not like.

You use what you like, that's it, nothing matters. While you are at it, send out a mail to one of them billion dollar companies and ask them to send you a 5 dollar check so you can go out and buy yourself a personility.

I myself use WinMo cause i like it. maybe you should try using what you actually like.

The world doesn't care what you think. or what I think. Or what any 1 man thinks. Its about what makes money. iPhones make money due to their simplicity. Android makes money due to its simplicity. Whether or not its a good system is irrelavent, it has to make money to survive.

I will gladly have a winmo phone. Its about whether it can make money, which in the wider economic view of the smartphone market i dont think it can.

Despite the good l&f the WP7 will only be a (mass) success if it works extremely good with Windows Live. Otherwise it's nothing more then an email/web-terminal for the x-box. Just a good OS is not enough.

Doing thing simply and doing things right way are 2 different things. Also the word "simple" which Apple users abuse alot, is a matter of how you see it.

I personally think Apple and their apps do it the hard way and make it very diffucult for people to do things fast. Sure every function and program has a App you can just press.

It's all a matter perspective without the fanboyism, the question is how Apps can be classified as fast and simple when you have to waste time and energy every 30 min to go inte go inte 10 different apps to get most of your updates and infos.

Whereas as on Windows and Symbian it just quite simply let's you know that you have got a wallpost on facebook, a new e-mail, weather changing, new updates on products, location info, tweets, where your frends are doin etc etc right on your homescreen as it happens, without pressing a single button.

You call apps easy? I call it extremely time wasting and boring. Basically people with 2 much time on their hands that just wanna whip out the phones and press a dreadful app, also usually a app that works halfway to what a real Windows Mobile program would do.

Serious professionals, business people, politicians, university grads and people who want to evolve and involve their phones as proper smartphone tools still use Symbian and Windows, that much you can believe.

So Apps netither does things the fast way or the easy way. What can be easier and faster than getting all your updates straight on the homescreen without even having to touch the phone? You tell me?...

I have read (most of) the posts and one thing is missing...
What about the HW, i.e. the phone itself?
I have seen many pictures of WP7 phones and none of them look good.
Yeah, they have impressive specs that may justify a high price, but they are boring and dull.
Whether it is LG or even HTC, the WP7 phones are ugly.
When I have to pay £400 or more for a phone, I don't want an ugly looking one (same applies if I have to keep it for 2 years).
Unless I get a cool offer like free XBox and Kinect with the purchase of a WP7 Phone... Then maybe I'd consider an ugly phone? But it ain't Christmas yet so I stop dreaming...

And before getting beaten up, please consider that I am not a geek or a developer. Typically, I'd buy a Galaxy S or an iPhone. So what's in it for me, Steve B?

However, from past experience with winmo phones....150 or so applications, the majority of which were paid for ones vs. several thousand free ones in both android and apple.

I concede it has an app store. Its just not a very good one.

However, if this phone OS is a success IN THE GENERAL PUBLIC then it has to have an easy way to get apps. Thats the reason iPhones are so successful, they have a load of apps that are easy to get so the general moron public don't have to think about it. You can't just say "You just got to search for them" since the general public doesnt work like that, regardless of whether you and I are willing to do it.

When my contract ends next July i would want to try a windows 7 phone, but whether or not winmo is successful in the public view depends on its ease of use.

However, most phone users out there probably would spend the time for something / someone else...their families and friends, Facebook, or even hiking, exercise, etc...

Here is my experience with Windows Mobile phones:

Moto Q9h on Windows Mobile 6.0 - the interface looked like Windows 3.0/3.1, which was "ok" for me.

Moto A3100 on Windows Mobile 6.1 - this device gave me the nightmare which made me decided NEVER go for Windows Mobile again.

Unlike my previous Windows phone, the WM6.1 came with Chinese ROM ONLY where I live! I was so surprised for over 15 years of mobile phone usage, I was not able to switch the (menu) language back to English. I have been using English Windows on my PC all these years, despite being Chinese myself.

Then somebody told me an English ROM is available and I took my phone back to "upgrade". Yes, I got my English menu, though at the same time, I no longer be able to view websites with Chinese characters! Somebody told me I had to install another (paid!?) program to despite the Chinese characters.

What made me frustrated was the fact such was NOT a problem on my Q9h, where I could switch the language anytime and was able to browse websites with Chinese characters anytime....without any special program.

And to install a program was never as easy as what I'm doing with Android now.

You may say Android and Iphones are for kids, though I, and the market certainly can, tell you that's what most users want to be.

PS. I could switch to Chinese / English menu and view Chinese websites through any of my Android phones now.
