Plastic phones have almost always had removable battery, metal and glass phones have almost always not had removable battery. There wasn't a trend to get rid of removable battery, there was a trend to use 'premium' materials. Metal phones that existed when everyone were using plastic phones with removable battery still didn't have a removable battery. If what you said was true this obviously wouldn't be the case.
The people voted with their wallet when they decided not to buy the s5 because it was made of plastic, and then to buy the s6 because it was made of glass. You're clearly blaming the wrong people here.

Regardless of what quality the material used in the making of the phone be, the true purpose of doing away with removable batteries is completely down to being able to milk the customer for a battery change. That or sell it and buy a new phone from them. Typical consumerist agenda by mega corporations.

And it isn't possible to have a removable battery with them, unless you do something gimmicky that ruins the structural integrity of the device like lg. And even then, Samsung can't use metal, they have to use glass to keep the wireless charging. And ip68 would be lost regardless.
If you were right, then there would have been more plastic phones without a removable battery, and more metal/glass phones with a removable battery. But a quick look should let anyone with a brain realise its because of whether or not they use 'premium' materials or plastic.
Also, the s5 didn't have 'premium' materials and it sold poorly and was largely criticised for it. Its a shame and I'd rather have a plastic phone, but this was dictated by the market, they kept plastic with the s5 when other brands like HTC used metal, and HTC did comparatively better. The HTC m8 has a non removable battery and yet it was supposedly htc's highest point.

You are either sh|lling for Samsung or just not bright enough to realize when you are getting robbed in broad daylight for a mere battery change.
The endurance is not the issue (that remains to be seen though, Note 4 still beats Note 5), the costs involved in getting the battery changed in two years time is. Only a total zealot will be ready to pay exorbitant service fees on top of battery costs after spending money to go all the way to the service center for just a battery change. In several countries going to the service center is as costly as paying the service fees because there are very few service centers in their country. If there were just screws to remove and pull back the back cover it is still doable by most people brave enough to open the phone up, now it's all semiconductor-industry grade glue something you can't fix back on your own without seriously damaging the insides. This is on purpose to loot you further in the name of service charges. You'd have to be at IQ level 'pathetic' to not realize this.

I support his view that removable batteries were a nice and convenient feature. It allowed power like me and others to pack an extra battery so we can top up instantly.
For me it doesn't matter even if they put a 5000Mah battery,making it accessible is the way to go.

The Note 7 will have a smaller battery which aint good for power users and the Mate 8 came out last year, so Samsung are going backwards...

They should make it quick charge 3.0 capable as well, if they're going for less than 4000mah in battery capacity. I found that batteries don't necessarily become too weak after 2-3 years of use. But they will wear out eventually. Nothing stays new forever, people.

Samsung has the most worst battery, even no battery saving app is good enough to work with Samsung. It doesn't matter how much juice they are gonna put inside the battery unless they have something like stamina mode. SONY is the best, still cursing that moment when i switched to Gs7 edge.

I call it Note.5 because its features have been halved. That removable battery means I can't use extended batteries that directly powers the device, like a Zerolemon 10,000mAh. That's why I'm sticking with my Note 3.
I bought my wife an S7 Edge, and it performs excellent during the first month. I monitor the battery performance very closely with an Excel spreadsheet to see what I can expect if the next Galaxy Note still has a sealed battery. On the 2nd month, I detect a 15% power hold DECREASE. It could do a 7:15H SOT with 15% left, but NOW does 6H SOT, with the battery fully drained. I can even say a 20% power hold loss.
Fact is people, batteries degrade over use. Sealing it, and implementing fast charging, and fast wireless charging only make it degrade FASTER. I just buy a new battery once its power hold has degrade. Imagine that battery blimping outwards once its capacity level is degraded... I've seen lithium-ion and even li-po expanding out. At least with a removable battery you can notice these things with occasional inspection.

Since then they have been in coma or something and came out with fragile glass nonsense, without an SD card expansion and removable battery. IMO, going backwards on the Note 5 to 3000mAH from 3220mAH on the Note 4 and then saying it's a 20% increase, it's just stupid. It's a 12% increase from the Note 4. We all know the reason they are sticking it to us with the smaller batteries and making them non-removable. It's not because they want the phone thin and light, it's because the smaller the battery that can't be removed makes it a shorter time frame that most people will buy a new phone because the battery degrades through it's cycles and then we're trapped into buying a new phone (or most users who don't know better will). Who really wants to actually send their phone "in the mail" to Samsung to have their battery replaced for $45? I may consider it and use my previous Note until it comes back, but it's still not a reasonable solution for most people (or me). Since the smartphone buying gold rush is over, they are going to do whatever they can to keep us buying new phone as often as possible. Just like Apple is doing. As much as I want the Note 7 (and I want it pretty bad) I may just have to wait to see what LG is going to follow up it's V10 model this year because they are the only company willing to let people carry around extra batteries. God forbid we actually use our "mobile phones" all day and are out and about.

Ah, I am disappointed that Samsung will still have that silly fragile glass back, while other manufacturers like Sony and Apple have already stayed away from the concept all together. Plus the fact of a removable battery option for extended battery options, since I am a very heavy user of LTE.
Zerolemon's 10,000 mAh battery can make a huge difference by directly giving power. Not any of that battery power pack that only transfers a fraction (65%) of its capacity. No worries about power the entire day. I can get through 3GB data, 6 hours SOT, over a 16 hour usage period before I get home, and still get some 40% left.

Only the Note 4 is worth it from the note series. With removable battery gone any replacements are hard to do on your own because of all that rubbish gluesticking. To make matters worse Samsung charges an arm and a leg to do the simple battery swap. This is the new thievery from OEMs to milk the customers. It has nothing to do with making the phone slim, unibody and all that marketing BS they peddle to justify doing away with user replaceable batteries.
