Nougat is officially Android 7.0

01 July, 2016
Yesterday Google finally unveiled the dessert name for the next iteration of its mobile operating system: Nougat. So what we've so far known only as "Android N" will be called Android Nougat when it launches later this summer.

Anonymous, 01 Jul 2016What's up with the new number every time? Marshmallow a... moreLately people tend to use sub-versions less and less. Take Firefox for example: went from 0 to 4 in 8 years, then from 4 to 47 in 6 years.

Anonymous, 01 Jul 2016If only it was Nutella. That would be even better. But oh w... moreIn ICS we expected big changes and we got laggy interface(even if its still my favorite i terms of look)
In KK we expected big changes and we got limitations of SDcard and lots of devices with battery problems.
In LP we expected big changes and all we got is a bit annoying candy look, WAY bigger resource drain and some really useless features like "users", It is stable system but because of lack of optimization and colors of MD is just annoying.
in MM we expected big changes in optimization... and we got just toned down LP with only few major changes.
Now we have... the same thing...

As I said many times, android is build in really old model and core, this system just cant evolve.
Most of energy and resources that we have in today phones are going to keeping system it self running, not to run applications or games. Android is actually only thing that block all that huge power that we have in today devices.
Android need to jump to next generation of devices that would replace computers in more ways, but still after all those years its nothing more than device for media consumption, and with every version we have actually really small steps. Example? I still can use new applications on old devices like Xperia Z, Galaxy S2... almost the same speed and quality compared to new devices.... after those years there should be way bigger jump in this terms.

Now best part, I use linux liteOS on my netbook(+3g modem) and I have the same times of video/browser like most of today flagships... even hibernation/standby is really good... and we talk about full blown system and architecture/hardware that is not that good with mobility and that give me possibilities that android can just dream(proper work)... now imagine if people would spend more time with optimization of standby times, normals systems, even windows10 could easily replace android, few mobile apps for fast access, because lets be honest 90% of times using anything else than browser/social apps are in home/school/work and rest... connect it with any TV/monitor and you have full blown system on phone device... even games...

and here we have 2016, we have another Android with fancy name... and if you remove fancy look... its work the same as before...

What's up with the new number every time?

Marshmallow and Nougat are improved Lollipop, so they should be 5.2 and 5.3 or 5.4 respectively.

Like when version 4 went from Ice-cream sandwich to Jelly Bean, to Kit-Kat..

            Rant over.. :
